Objectively pointless--the character of the vodka is completely masked at that point. If you're going to make cocktails for the palate of a child, you don't need to spend that much.
I don't waste money on 'good' vodka. You quickly hit a ceiling of quality and taste at a lower price point than other spirits. It also just isn't particularly interesting or enjoyable to me.

Subjectively, as far as clear spirits go, I'd rather buy some nice tequila or gin. Save the bigger bucks for something aged like a whisky or rum. A lot more to explore and enjoy with those spirits.

No garnish? The garnish makes the drink. For me, it's a jarred cherry with a splash of syrup.
>Recently I tried making a martini but wow is that a lot of gin and the vermouth I used (Dolin) added nothing of value to it.

check the ice you're using. if the ice is cloudy and shitty it will dilute the drink, you need to use more of it than you would normally. be careful of the taste too, ice is porous and picks up tastes from the freezer quickly. silicone trays do as well, if you keep them in the freezer they will start to smell absolutely rank in a week or two. let some of the ice melt in a glass completely and taste the water, chances are unless you take some measures to make the ice pure it will probably taste off to a degree.
