Mine is the "hot beef sandwich" that's a Midwest staple. Roast beef on white bread with mashed potatoes and the whole thing is slathered in beef gravy. Fucking yum.

Smash, sausages and beans. It has to be Smash because I love the gloopy yet smooth texture. I chop up the sausages, give the plate a good squirt of ketchup and then mixwell. A big bowl of ketchup flavoured Smash with baked beans and sausage chunks running through it. Amazing comfort food.

I guess it's up to interpretation but "comfort" food to me always meant food that reminds you of moms cooking/being a child rather than shit that cures a hangover. Reubens are good though. Any use of corned beef is comfy, really.

If the sandwich can't be eaten as a sandwich then at least half the bread should be removed, simple as. The bread:meat ratio in sandwiches is always subpar but the portability makes it worth it. If you're sacrificing the portability then you can make the ratio more appropriate by only having the bottom bread or having the bread on the side to dip and eat as you wish.
