Yes
>As good as kitchen confidential?
Equal. TDITK is about MPW and the junkie's book is about the industry at large as well as his own story.

reading kitchen confidential I forgot at times that it's basically a collection of essays, the switch between autobiographical and philosophical passages is refreshing

I read this many years ago as a giant fan of Keith Floyd. It’s very funny and candid, I recommend it. It is ghost written but they make no secret of it and the ghost writer capture’s Floyd’s wit and charm very well.

Everlasting Meal is my favorite and got me into cooking in the first place.

What's with the whole "scumbag chef" archetype? Why are so many of them like that?
>oooohhhh ahhhhhh it's so stressful cooking for a restaurant they work you so much ahhhhh ohhhhhhh
Yeah and some people work in steel mills. Some people work sewer maintenance for living, they literally work in a sewer.

Those people are angry scumbags too, they just don't get their own TV shows. Instead they just go home and beat their wives. You would be able to figure this out easily if you weren't retarded.

It can be viewed as an insight into what kind of personality you need to reach the very top of an industry, or into the mind of a man who was quite seriously mentally ill and hasn't realised it. Bourdain's book is "yeah I said fuck, whatcha gonna do about it?".

Because Marco got really famous and made a shitload of money doing it.

OK and why do chefs? Why should we dote on them and treat their stressful work situation like it's some special case deserving of special attention? It's not.

You're on a cooking board, retard. Of course chefs will be more popular here than people that work in a sewer.
