Drinks! I really like lime and lemon essenced sodas. Are there any large scale co2 systems and tanks I can buy and make my own carbonated water? I don't want to have sex with kids anymore, I just don't want to buy a system where I am getting shipped little co2 tubes every month. TIA!

Beer shop, they'll fix ya right up. It'll cost you a fifth of a grand for some bubbly water though.

Yes. Look into beer kegging systems if you just want a one and done purchase.

Do not get sankey kegs. Look for cornelius keg systems. Significantly easier for the domestic carbonator.

Right, thanks guys. I didn't know they had commercial systems at home legally for cheap with kids and stuff. I should just buy a system like with my diving equipment.

a fitting is only cheap when it is typically sold in bulk.

Here's my setup.

Total cost in equipment was about $150. Cost to make 1.5L of carbonated water is under 10 cents.

Making carbonated water is bretty simple.

1. Fill an empty 2L bottle about 70% full of water, and refrigerate.
2. When the bottle is cold, squeeze out all the air from the bottle and screw on the carbonator cap.
3. Open CO2 main valve all the way until it seats against the stop.
4. Set regulator to 60Psi
5. Attach CO2 line to carbonator cap
6. Open secondary valve
7. Shake bottle until you see that no more CO2 is entering the bottle.
8. Close main valve

I like to set the PSI to 60, which is 3x more carbonation than shitty products like SodaStream which has its regulator permanently set to 20 PSI. This gets me seltzer water that's fizzier than just about anything you've ever tasted.

>> No.18348722

I'M SO MAD THAT SODASTREAM IS DISCONTINUING THE THREADED BOTTLES WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH ALL OF THOSE THREADED BOTTLES? JUST THROW THEM IN THE OCEAN? IN A LANDFILL?

NOBODY ASKED FOR "QUICK CONNECT" TECHNOLOGY. IT HAS A SHITTY CHECK VALVE IN COMPARISON TO THE THREADED BOTTLES. THERE'S A CHANCE THAT SOMEONE WILL GET BLOWN APART NOW.

AND IT IS ALL FOR MARKETING.

HOW IS THIS OK?

WHO LOOKS AT CUSTOMER SAFETY?!

A used corny keg is like $40 bucks.
You got to get you CO2 tank, a regulator some tubing and connections.
I'd say you can probably make due for less than $200

I lucked out when I was building my keezer tho and my gas shop didn't charge me for the tank deposit for some reason.

I can get a small co2 cylinder from my welding supply for $80, and the $5 for the exchange. I can get a Chinese regulator for $25. You can upgrade the low side valve for $10 if you're worried about the calibration on the one that comes with it.
