Anyone have any good tips for smoking baby back ribs on a gas grill? I got a smokebox for my weber and was going to try the 321 method on them over indirect heat with cherry wood chips. I'm planning on possibly getting a pellet smoker when I have a bit more money saved up but I wanted to try something a bit more inexpensive in the meantime. I think I have my rub mixture where I want it and Bone Suckin' Sauce has been serving me rather well.

I've done 321 ribs on a gas grill before and they came out great. Not as much smoke flavor as a proper smoker but still quite good. Baby backs cook slightly quicker than spares so maybe more like 2.5-1.5-1 for your cook time.

You add anything in particular to the foil step? I was thinking of doing brown sugar, honey, and a few pats of butter, maybe some apple cider for a bit of moisture.

Sugar and butter is really all you need, maybe a bit of cherry coke or apple cider vinegar for a bit of acidity instead of juice to balance the sweetness.

I don't have the money for a smoker right now. I didn't even buy the grill, it was the only positive thing I got from my uncle passing away suddenly.
