While im not saying they have noticed, the big box stores asset protection people rely on you havibg this mindset. They basically let you get away with shit u until they have a mountain of evidence to fuck you with.

I can kind of confirm this, I knew of someone who stole a fuckton of TCG packs over several months until one day they cornered him, showed him the evidence and told him they'd drop if it he paid a lump sum and never came back.

Does walmart not have scales on these? The local ones measure each item you scan to check it lines up (and means wagies have to fix every few orders)

>> No.18327420

>>18327408
Walmart rightfully decided to get rid of the scanned item scale because it's a speed bump in their mission to push people through. You can scan items and put them right back in your cart without the kiosk bitching at you. You can also scan liquor and it won't grind your checkout to a halt to get your ID scanned. You just can't check out until somebody checks it.

Interesting. Fucking with the barcodes is probably too much effort. Just scan something cheap like a candy bar and put the expensive thing in the bagging area.

My main source is that I heard it from the asset protection guy directly working at target. Also know someone who did what your friend did with pokemon cards, but with beer. One run cops were waiting outside the doors for him. Guess the alcohol makes it bigger trouble.

Inversely though, I've always wondered if you could get away with blatantly stealing one big ticket item, like a 4k tv. Just do it at a far enough away Wal-Mart and think about your exit strat, and never do it again. The asset protection wagies would just be waiting for you to strike again.

ya i never got that, its easier to just to pretend to scan something when there are no watchers close by thats how i get my free 30$ bag of TP for the month fuck paying for ass paper

>> No.18327505

Here they have weight sensors.
I've stolen more stick by wearing a baggy jacket with big pockets than I have by using a self serve kiosk.
I haven't tried putting expensive things thru as onions as I'm concerned it is programmed to know how much a typical amount of onion weighs

What state has a bag tax

>> No.18327522

>>18327508
its not a tax those stores charge you as in buying the bag at 10 cents or sometime 25 cents

>> No.18327526

>>18327232
yeah that's why I don't bother really using them at walmart. At the same time though, if you exit the store and they don't catch you, you win. I don't use these to steal too much, but every now and then you can get away with something. For example, I needed a swiffer wet jet for my new apartment with concrete floors. I went to wal-mart, was disgusted by the people there, and so when I went to check out I bought a $1.50 bottle of cholula sauce and scanned that, paid for it, put the swiffer in the bag with the cholula, and walked out. I walked in a hurry and an elderly greeter asked to see my receipt, I pulled it out and showed them while walking. They just said "oh, ok" and that was that. I shopped there many more times and no issue. I think it helps to pay cash though

Boulder County in Colorado.
I worked for the pickup department until recently. We are supposed to say how many plastic bags we used. We always entered 0. Fuck that retarded tax.
You want to make a difference with plastic pollution? Go after governments and large corporations. Consumers contribute fucking nothing. And that goes with all forms of pollution. The population's contribution is fucking ZILCH compared to governments and large corpos.

believe me you don't want to ever do that at self checkout. my store isn't even going after shoplifters anymore, they're only prosecuting people that steal from self checkout. if you use your debit card at the kiosk and aren't wearing a mask, you're even a bigger retard than i thought. you have a better chance of getting away with items by shoving them in your pocket instead, far away from the kiosks.

all of that has been calibrated several years ago. once I tried putting in random peppers in one produce bag and tried to pass them off as one cheap pepper. the machine caught the error instantly and I had to ring them up by weight individually after

>How did it even know?

My only explanation is that it could detect the color or shapes of the wrong peppers, but I think that tech would be too advanced for a kiosk. Perhaps it was just a general random bug malfunction and I got unlucky.

>> No.18327930

I had the chance once to steal someones expensive meat that they paid for and left in the bagging area of the kiosk. But I chose not to take their meat, for good reasons.

They would have came back and complained they had left their beef at the kiosk. The clerk would have seen it wasn't at the kiosk, and the security would have ran the cameras to find out if the customer was lying or not. On camera they would then see me take the meat and run off with it. You see, since I go to this store every day, and sometimes even pocket some shit there, I did the smarter thing and handed in the meat to the clerk so I can look like a good guy. But if it was a store that I never go to, I probably would have taken the meat.
