Disgusting vile anti-social incel here, need your advice.
I soaked chickpeas overnight (it's been 24 hours now), but I won't get to cook them today after all.
I can see by browsing the intrabiz that they could start fermenting if I keep them soaked for tomorrow.
Can I just discard the water and put them in a sealed container and cook them tomorrow?
Please help me, I am not sexually active

if they smell fine, dry em up and refrigerate or freeze but try to use as soon as possible
if they smell off just throw everything out

Were they soaking in fridge? Even if outside of fridge, 24hrs is nothing. Rinse them and try one out. Is it sour? Discard or grow sprouts. Otherwise, drain, bag and freeze. It's absolutely nothing. I had kept soaked chickpeas in fidge for over 3 days, simply change the water every 12 hrs after the first 24.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I did keep them in the fridge for the 24 hours. Will follow what you recommended.

Next time use garbanzo beans, they are easier to work with.

24 hours is already too long, unless you live in the arctic. They'll probably ferment and stink up your kitchen, nay, you entire house. The smell will be unlike anything your nostrils have ever experienced. In any case, if they do start to stink, DO NOT listen to the redditors who will tell you it's still fine to cook and eat them - dispose of them immediately.
