Why does /ck/ always praise this so much? Is it anything special? How does it compare to other bourbons?

We don't?
>Is it anything special?
No.
>How does it compare to other bourbons?
Less flavor because low rye content.

Sweet, smooth, and inoffensive. Great if you want something reasonably priced and smooth.

NPC "thoughts":
>this whiskey is smooth
Human thoughts:
>this whiskey is delicious; it tastes like X
Also, almost all whiskies that normies commonly describe as "smooth" are relatively light on flavor.
Actual humans who enjoy actual flavors don't describe whiskies as "smooth."

Nice orange flavor, very good at retail price which I get since I don't live in an urban shithole. Anything marked up or driving around multiple stores for it makes it immediately not worth it. It's good but the lack of supply makes people jerk off to it and because it's hyped fags will find any reason to complain about it. It's nothing special, doesn't have deep oaky, spicy, herbal, flavor but at the price it's pretty good.

It costs $20 and tastes better than Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. It's not the greatest bourbon money can buy but it wins in its price range.

You live somewhere where bourbon isn't a viable option then. Part of the appeal of bourbon is that it's cheap and that even the cheap stuff can be good. Once it reaches $40-50, you might as well just get some mid level scotch.

Both state monopolies having insane buying power and private liquor stores in heavy competition combined with low taxes in a given area for either make it so bourbon is cheap. Virginia is one such shithole. Primo bourbon runs around $35 and there are plenty of deals that taste just as good.

It's dogshit. I don't know why anyone like Buffalo Trace. I think it came up in threads because it used to be 15-20 bucks a bottle so it was on par with baby's first bourbons like Maker's Mark, but then the price went up so people just assumed it was a high end bourbon. Pro tip: it's not.

Buffalo Trace is better than 90 percent of bourbons below 40 dollars. Makers mark is terrible it has the same consistency as cough syrup and is just about as sweet. Bourbon overall is garbage, real men drink Rye. My nigga George Washington was making 1100 gallons of rye a year at Mount Vernon.

>> No.18224137

>>18220914
I think it's super overrated. The only reason it exists was a PR move from the distillery and the only reason it's popular is because that distillery also makes pappy and stagg. It was also dirt cheap when it first came out. As another anon said it has a lower rye content and there's no age declaration. So even though it's supposedly 8 years, I doubt it.

Better Options in that price range
>Evan Williams
>Rittenhouse Rye
>Four Roses
>Old Forester

The list goes on. It's the world's most boring bourbon, and almost without fail anyone that claims it as their favorite is someone I don't like. It's like whenever some wants a scotch suggestion and you have all the le reddit herd screaming Lagavulin 16 at the top of their lungs while holding up effigies of Ron Swanson. It's a very mediocre whisky that got wildly hyped for no reason from marketing. Atleast Lagavulin is actually pretty good, though overhyped/priced.
