What's your favorite food city?

For me, it's Salzburg, Austria. It BTFO'd anything I had in Germany and was overall one of the comfiest places I've visited in Europe. Other places of note
>NYC
>London
Shit cities with good food, if not overpriced. The selection of cuisine alone puts them both in the upper echelon of food cities.
>Bolzano, Italy
Wonderful city with a unique culture clash, being so close to the German border. It's small but lots of great cuisine.

Overrated cities
>Paris
Shithole, tourist trap. I'm sure it gets better outside of the city but I've never had the chance to visit the rest of the country.
>Rome, Venice, any large city in Italy
Potentially bigger shitholes, see above
>LA
Biggest shithole of all, garbage food everywhere, white people trying to make Mexican food, tacos that cost $8ea

I hate San Francisco, it's a piece of shit city filled with piece of shit people, but that city and the surrounding bay area has some of the best food in the world.

No yuropoor or asian city can compete with American cities. All the world's best chefs go to America to make their fortunes so America has literally the world's best food available in several of its metropolises. Even smaller cities like San Diego or Denver outclass top yuro cities like London on terms of food.
Not only that, but it the variety available BTFOs anything yuropoors or asians have to offer. I can have world class sushi and ramen for lunch, have dinner at a top-tier french restaurant and stop by a world-famous chinese bakery for dessert, all within a 5 block radius and without having to dodge grooming gangs and african scammers on the way there.
Yuros simply can't compete.

I mean, is he wrong? I guess it determines what you consider a "good food city". Of course you can find good food in any American city, or any city in general, I think a good food city needs a food culture. A diverse scene of innovative chefs in conversation with each other. There are only 3 cities on the planet I think fall under this umbrella, and they are

>NYC
>London
>Tokyo

I had amazing food everywhere I went in Athens. The chicken pita gyros always hit the spot and Greek salads with a big chunk of feta are perfect with the hot climate.

Salzburg is great, but austria is irrelevant so the town might as well be german.
Personally, I had an amazing experience in Brussels and Lyon food-wise, you should check those out if you can.

it's ridiculously disingenuous to say NYC/ London have great food and LA doesn't. being the 2nd biggest city in the U.S. automatically means there is an amazing selection of food whether you hate the city or not.

of a few distinct regional/ cultural cuisines? yes, absolutely. nowheresville, kansas probably has a bbq joint that stands up to the best 2 star restaurants in NYC. however, the sheer quantity and variety of great food in urban centers is what makes them so great. the great thing is that these two extremes both have a lot to offer that you won't find in the other, and more people ought to travel to experience both big cities and small towns if they want to really understand the culture of their country.

I really really wish most people took this nuanced approach to food and culture here in the US.
usually its only ever one of 2 things.
"your shithole flyover bumbfuck town has nothing to offer compared to the wonders of the modern culinary world you stupid fat fuck"
or
"your overpriced overrated homeless hellhole is nothing but satanist lies and chink garbage compared to our bbq soul food"
I hate it.

Los Angeles has the best ramen I can find in the US. Saying gumbo in Louisiana is the best cannot describe how delicious the locals there can make it. It is literally impossible to beat. I would go to prison to get my hands on authentic country side biscuits and gravy with eggs right this moment. Thanksgivings are almost always epic and if not then it was attempted. Roasts, gravies, sides, and variety depending on where your family came here from.

Singapore. Arguably the best there is, just for the slowly dying hawker centers (but there's so much more).
Bangkok & Taipei also good (basically any south east asian metropolis).
