Flowers have male and female parts, the fruit they produce is not male or female in the same way the plant as a whole that eventually develops from them is not male or female. Plants are not like people.

>> No.18170023

>>18170018
then why do male eggplants have a dot in the base and contain almost no seeds (therefore the most sought-after and most edible version) while the female eggplants have a slot shaped dot and they are busting with seeds inside? to the point where my supermarket doesn't even sell female eggplants anymore.

clearly there's a difference in the fruit in this case

>> No.18170237

>>18170023
Maybe the supposedly "female" one is formed from multiple ovaries and ends up seedier, it's not a sexual difference though. I don't really believe there is a difference to be honest, I've probably bought 500 aubergines without peeking at their bottom and I've had maybe one bad one, but if the customers all believe the myth then the supermarkets are going to be pressured to throw perfectly fine aubergines out.
