It's rare for a single gallon of milk to last longer than 3 days for me after it's been opened. I can easily drink over half a gallon a day if I leave it at my desk, the only reason I don't drink more is to pace my shopping trips. I'm losing weight so some days I won't eat and will just drink milk. A glass of milk even on its own is a good breakfast, and most meals don't feel complete without a glass. I like to sip it in small gulps, just enough to layer the whole mouth and puddle a bit in the back of the throat. Sometimes I'll take a half full jug to bed instead of water. I eat a lot of cereal too, so often I'll fill a large bowl up and keep a box with me. I can sip from the bowl and if I get hungry, cereal. I probably would've enjoyed being a milk man and had a lot of pride in the job, if it were still around. Milk is filling and tastes good and is good for you and I will kill politicians and bomb federal buildings if the price gets too high. It's one of the few simple joys I have left in my life.

milk isn't actually all that good for you, they just do that marketing because the milk industry in the US is a nightmare and a bad joke. We have a literal cave of cheese and we dump out trucks full of milk every day because subsidies from the depression that never went away mean companies gotta overproduce. The whole "got milk" thing was a way of dealing with this. Getting milk into every school was a way of dealing with this. It's a nightmare.

It's more nutrionally complete than most any other basic food or drink.
Isn't going to help a fat person lose weight though, and most of the developed world's population is in fact overweight now, so in that sense you're not entirely wrong.
Fat people have kind of turned nutrition upside down to where it's really the least nutritious foods and drinks that will be the most helpful for the fat majoriy who's problem is being overly nourished.

What does that even mean? Has as many calories by volume? In that case milk actually has a lot more calories than soda (like 630 per liter vs. Coke which is more like 400 per liter).
You definitely don't need to be a bodybuilder to ingest 630 calories from milk in a day without getting overweight though, and that's probably even more than most milk drinking adults will have in an average day.
If you get fat "from milk" you were already eating too many calories from food.

If you had one can of coke and the same volume of whole milk, you get(first number coke, second milk):

Calories: 140-240
Sodium: 45mg-203mg
Cholesterol: 0mg-53mg
Saturated Fat: 0mg-7.5mg
Carbs: 39g-19.5g
Sugar: 39g-18g

Sure, the coke is empty and doesn't have the vitamins and protein that milk has, but if you're not working out a lot it's actually probably going to make you fatter than even soda would.

>> No.18177169

>>18175926
>The calories are the only part relevant to making someone fat
Not really. Satiety matters too. How full or thirsty something makes you directly impacts your weight gain. Caloric drinks are packed with calories and don't make you feel full and soda in particularly is prone to making you more thirsty and crave more of it. There are many other small factors too despite calories being the most prominent, and I fail to see how it matters since my original statement that drinking milk is about as bad for you as drinking soda if you aren't a gym rat isn't refuted by anything you're saying.

> And again, even if you drank an entire liter a day (and the vast majority don't) that's not going to make you fat unless you were already eating too many calories.
First, plenty of fat fucks do drink more than a liter of soda in a day or a liter of caloric drinks. And soda won't make you fat by itself if you drink an entire liter of it either. People get fat on it because they have it on top of eating normal food.

>Any fat person blaming milk or soda for their weight is just trying to misdirect from their real problem of consistently overeating every day.
Wrong. Those things can contribute massively to daily caloric intake and obesity, so it can be making them fat.

Let's say you had a normal 2500 calorie diet for an adult male BUT you drank 12oz of either soda or whole milk with every meal. You'd go from 2500 calories a day to 3000 for soda and 3220 for whole milk.

It's the difference between being a normal weight and being 40 pounds overweight. Lots of people ARE overweight or obese precisely because they drink an excess of calories. People who drink calories regularly are more likely to be obese due to their drinks than be massively overeating.

The most important distinction however is exactly how precise the law is about the fat content. Since there'll always be an error of margin some countries have it very wide while for others it's very narrow, so depending on country it can legally be off by as much as one percent.

>Here in Denmark "Sødmælk" is considered the fatty choice and "Letmælk" is the regular milk.
It's kind of the same way in America. Was even more that way in the 90s during peak lowfat craze. Reduced fat milk is pretty common even today. You usually get options like skim (which would be less fat than letmælk), a few different in between options labeled by the percent fat (e.g. 2% fat milk), and then whole milk.
They color code them too though not every grocery store / brand sticks to the same color scheme.
Growing up blue was skim milk at my school and red was whole milk.
