Tell me everything you know.

and if you're working the register it would just be a lot easier to dupe customers cards with your own scanner.

The McDonald's pos looks like pic related.
For people with the app, the "9" button was since replaced with a My McDonald's rewards button (to enter your rewards code. You can scan rewards at any time.

The M and L buttons are for meals (there are no small combos). So if someone wanted a Medium Big Mac, they would hit "M" and "Big Mac." There's then a row of drinks on the bottom of the screen. Drinks can be a different size than the meal and if you already ordered a drink, the POS system would automatically put that drink in for your meal.
The "grill" button is for modifying food.
Eat in Total and Take Out Total mark your food as for here or to go.
There is then a screen to enter the amount of cash tendered or to use a card.
For Uber eats and mobile drive thru orders, that is done through the "get mobile order" buttons where all orders placed to the store are shown as well as a button to recall them.
The order in whole is shown in the left or right rail on the screen. Taxes and discounts don't show up until you click eat in or take out total.

Also, the kitchen gets sent your order immediately after the food is pressed on the screen.

Also, doing nearly anything out of the ordinary requires a manager fingerprint.

This is what the McDonald's KVS system looks like. Most of it is pretty self explanatory.
The number is the amount of seconds since the order was placed. There are a few keys on a special keyboard to serve/erase the order.
The 2 numbers on the bottom are for average time per hour/time per day. McDonald's wants this at under 120 seconds.
The R (register) number on the top right of each order your order number. Anything 14 is usually reserved for drive thru. So if your number is 1401, then it would display R14-01.
"Multiple" means that someone has more than one order per car.
The up and down arrows on the order themselves mean that the order was modified later and that item was added or removed (usually marked as Modified too).

The Tim's POS was the worst I've ever used. I worked there in university and everything is just on one page in a random order. Hot chocolate will be beside a bacon sandwich. It's a complete mess. Took me a month to figure out where everything was because they didn't use subcategories

Do the door monitors even know how to read the receipt? Half the time I look at my receipt I can't figure out what product means what. When you have shit in bags it's not like they can count it all. So I guess they just look for items out of bag and see and briefly check the receipt before saying yeah let's go without understanding if you bought the item or not

These always use systems at least 10 years out of date. This is what they used when I worked at McDonalds.

The buttons were either for individual items or you'd get a meal button (1 for each size) that'd then prompt you for the type of meal (big mac etc.), followed by type of drink. This was all done via green lines of text.

It would display your current order and the previous order on screen at the same time, if you wanted to get orders older than that, you had to press a weird sequence of buttons that never made sense. It was a pain as I worked in one of the busiest stores in the country and the kitchen would routinely shit the bed forcing us to take 3-4 orders whilst the food was prepared (with the earlier customers getting pissed at you doing this and getting even more pissed when their items get taken by someone else whilst you're taking another order).

Make any sort of mistake adding the item, you'd have to go find a manager with the key to authorise you taking the item off again. Also, the uniform had no pockets of any kind. They really did not trust employees in any way.

Do they even work anymore?
Visa had to disavow merchant protections to get small businesses to ditch the imprinting manual method and new cards don't even have the embossed numbering anymore, many don't even have the number or name on the same side of the card.

If the kitchen still uses paper checks for incoming orders, you can order free stuff.
>Check the formating and spelling of all the lines on the check in the kitchen
>Bring up keyboard
>Type additions to order (like fries, extra cheese, or whatever) to appear like they were ordered normally.

this would never work, firstly you'd have to infiltrate restricted areas such as the kitchen and secondly the FOH would notice that your order contains 10 additional cheeseburgers and would check it on the POS

You want your employees to know as much as you do, when they arrive.
>all of them are temporary hires
>none of them have any experience
>the only reason why you hired them is because it's peak season
>the system doesn't work the way it should
>it's not as easy to understand as you thought it'd be
>it'll make you bleed even more money
the answer to all your problems is experienced staff. which you have to pay and treat nicely. Not your forte.

it's sort of a responsibility for merchants to connect credit card information like the name to that of an ID for any purchase requiring proof of age, and the cards are always connected to an address. the extra paper and physical recording of that kind of sensitive data is too important. our money for that matter is too important, part of the reason the secret service handles instances of counterfeit cash.
