Actually no, if you take a square and a circle the same size the circle is actually bigger

With square pizza, most of the slices don't have corner crusts.

My grandma gets those chef boyardee pizza kits, spreads the dough and sauce out in a square pan and puts pepperoni and raw hamburger over top, then uses the provided parmesan cheese pack on top of it all. No actual cheese, just that saw dust parmesan packet that comes with it. Basically pic rel, but square and with what ends up being browned hamburger and pepperoni.

Sounds absolutely horrendous, but it's one of my favorite foods in the world.

A good crust has a worthy flavor all its own. One that you don't even need to dip into anything.

As someone from New Jersey, let me fucking tell you op, that's called "Sicilian". Not just "square, thick-crust" it's fucking "Sicilian style". Additionally while Sicilian style does suck as a stand alone, as in: if it's the only style of pizza available when someone's like
>"oh i'm ordering pizza"
i'm fully killing myself immediately....it has a certain niche. A certain appeal. I've had a lot of pizza and imo Sicilian style is best well done, and specifically it's the best form of leftover pizza that exists. It's better than a normal plain pie slice when it's cold and can be decent when it's cold but also because it has more bread it heats up well. The middle slices that don't have the crust are top tier for this, but somewhat hard to eat when it's hot.

This form of pizza is very good with other stuff going on (like a barbecue and going in the pool) or with a movie during the summer. However if it's a "oh we're having pizza" and they ONLY order this then it's immediate suicide and everyone is banned from everywhere. Also when you reheat it, it holds well to toppings. It's overall really good when it's well done and if it's not well done (tastes more like bread + pizza) then you know you have a bad pizza place. Also also most of the US has bad pizza, literally unlivable, I lived in the midwest for a bit and they were like
>our pizza place is dominoes
which is a hate crime.

Is it lean burger? My only thought is it would get super greasy quick. Also would explain why it would taste good without a fatty cheese.

Nah, it's probably 80/20. I would use 75/25 but not any leaner. The crust is super thick and soaks up the grease. It's definitely greasy, but somehow not soggy or disgusting. She cooked it normal and finishes it under a broiler so the hamburger is browned and the edges of the pepperoni are slightly crispy. Fuck I want to dig her up and have her make me one.
