Looks alright. You could have used a deeper pan or larger portioning to get more of a poaching action going on instead of a steaming. Also try putting fresh bacon bits into it. They take it to another level while dabbing on the jews.

When immigration to Israel from North African countries was in its prime, immigrants suffered financial difficulties and this hearty and affordable dish, containing eggs, vegetables and bread, became a household favourite. Besides being very approachable, shakshuka is also super easy to make and only required one pan – which makes it all the more popular at picnic brunches or for light dinners.
It’s perfect and the kids can’t get enough of it :)

What spices did you use? I don’t think you cooked the eggs long enough but that’s personal preferrence, and makes it look like shit. But if you used good spices it would still probably taste good

>> No.17901283

you want to do it in either a small pan or pot, less surface area so you arent frying the tomato sauce but using it as poaching liquid for the eggs instead.

When you are cooking for the sake of posting a picture on the internet, plating IS everything, retard. What, you think everyone in this thread can just taste your slop through their monitor?
If you make something that looks like total fucking ass, there's no reason why you should make a fucking thread about it. Good for you if it tastes good, enjoy it, but don't attack our eyes with that visual diarrhea.

I always find shakshuka is overseasoned with th harissa flavors, not letting the tomatoes shine through. For this reason, I've always preferred Eggs in Purgatory, the still spicy Italian rendition.
You should know it was transplanted jews from Italy that brought the dish to N.Africa in the first place. They emigrated in WW2 to escape the war sentiments that were getting dangerous for the community.

Alright, here we go. Couldn't remember the recipe exactly so I winged it a bit. I fried some onions and diced jalapenos. I blended 3 campari tomatos, 5 kumato tomatos and seasoned the sauce with Cumin, a touch of Garam Masala, cinnamon, paprika, cayenne powder, pepper and salt. Added the sauce to the fried onions/jalapenos and let the sauce cook down for about 30minutes(might have let the sauce get a little too thick for my liking but not a big deal). Made some pockets in the sauce and added the eggs, parsley and chives. Put a lid on the pan and let the eggs steam on low for about 15minutes. Anyway, I think it turned out pretty dang good considering its the second time I've made it! Thanks for listening anons.
