Whenever I eat wild rice, and sometimes brown rice, it tastes almost exactly how the air smells when a rain storm rolls in
With the rain, I’m pretty sure it’s ozone that gives it that scent from what I’ve read, but what exactly makes wild rice taste similar to that rainy scent?
Google isn’t helping me here

I am too dumb for haiku, but this is definitely the thing I’m talking about
Why does wild rice have a pretrichor taste?
Web searches with petrichor and wild rice still aren’t bringing anything up for me
Does anyone else notice this flavor in eild rice? Modt just say it’s “nutty” or “earthy”, but that’s a bit vague
Maybe it’s just mybown senses that associate wild rice with that rain smell, I’m not sure

Geosmin can come from bacteria in soil. Plant oils can come from rice plants. Wild rice grows in swampy/ wet area. Add it all up brother.

That smell associated with rain is largely from dry or semi dry grasses being wetted.

Rice is a grass, and wild/brown rice are closer to naturally occurring grasses than other commercially grown/processed rice varieties.

Simple as.

Maybe its because I only really have white or brown rice, not wild rice whatever that is. I have a good sense of when it will rain because I can smell it coming, but I never associated that smell with rice before
