And also the Dalgona thing is this old now Korean trend where you froth up sugar and instant coffee to make this cream. It tastes harsh just like instant.
It just popped up in my mind by association. A co worker in my old job would also do this trick where he addded a tiny bit of water and make a slurry out of instant coffee and sugar so when you you pour water it creates a nice foamy layer on top without needing any creamer. It'd take about 10 minutes of smashing it with a fork to get right though.

Turkish is worth trying. It's a classy way to drink black coffee, but instant coffee will not do. You need beans ground into a powder that's a bit different from instant.
You take a small pot, boil some water, take it off heat, add 2 teaspoons per drinking cup of coffee, back to high-ish gas until it starts bubbling, 2 minutes on very low, then you let it rest for 2 minutes off heat and pour into your drinking cup.

It's how they drink it in the middle east. Tastes a lot less harsh than instant and smells delicious. You can add spices like cardamon or cinnamon if you want. Well it's not artisan either, all you need is the coffee pot and the right grind of coffee

I am about to get into the hobby just waiting on some stuff to ship.
It will be fun experimenting to see what works best both in terms of what brewing method is the most enjoyable routine and figuring out what tastes good to me.
From what I gather it is a massive rabbit hole and money sink, so many different ways to brew and a lot of variables that can be tweaked.

I'll start simple with a french press, then work my way to different brewing methods after I've spent a fair amount of time playing around with it to see if it is worth investing the time and money into this hobby.
Espresso looks like fun to mess around with on the weekend, been eying the flair 58, but I don't want to dive straight into it, french press looks like a good place to start.

You can get pretty autistic about tea brewing too, although I don't think it matters that much.
There are different types of clay, each pot costing $100+ and supposedly they are better suited for different tea types, there are also silver pots. Then there is also tea aging, either wet or dry.
But on the other had there are $3k coffee grinders, so I guess coffee is still more expensive and you can actually brew good tea in a simple gaiwan.

I am about to make some coffee using the following recipe:

12/200g
30g bloom, switch closed. open at 0:45
30g bloom at 1:00, switch open
150g switch closed at 2:00, stir.
open switch at 3:15
close switch at 4:00

what will I think of it?

in practice it's not as involved as it looks, most of the brewing is just standing around.

you can do a single 2min bloom but I really like the sweetness and acidity that comes with the double bloom. I have yet to experiment with different bloom and pour combinations but this 2 bloom 1 pour is consistent and tasty, definitely try it out if you like bright sweet coffee.

i'm not trying to sell it but it really is the perfect v60, I see it as the natural endgame of pour-over. Throw in a different size cone and now you can make effortlessly great coffee for multiple people. it's also really nice for rinsing filters and stopping the last over-extracted bit of coffee because I can just close the switch and drain it over my spromachine's drip tray.

It's too expensive for what it is but there's no real alternative in glass. it won't change your life but it'll make your pour-over experience a bit nicer, leave it as something to look forward to on your birthday or another occasion you'd be able to justify buying it (what i did lol).

Hi I'm John Aeropress, CEO of Aeropress.

First I'd like to give thanks to the few dedicated Pressers we have on this forum. Hello Aeropress Gang! Haha, we love to see that over at the head office. Really makes it feel like our work is worth doing.

For the rest of you I have a simple question: What will it take? What will it take for you to try a clean, hot cup of freshly Aeropressed coffee? While we here at Aeropress recommend brewing the coffee "Americano" style (blind test approved!) countless Pressers on the world wide web have shown time and time again it's possible to brew a delicious and perfectly extracted cup of coffee right in the precisely manufactured Aeropress chamber. What will it take for you to move on from your equipment, your obsession with swirling and flat beds, and repeatedly pouring hot water in circles? What will it take for you to finally give in and brew easy and consistently repeatable cups of coffee in our very own Aeropress?

Let us know in the comments below. We're all ears.

Its fairly challenging at first, but you get an eye for it. I've choked it a couple times, had it run through too fast a couple times, now I average normal shots around 6-9 bars in 30 sec. Just get an eye for the grind size, do a lot of pulsing the button and shaking, and tamp pressure I adjust accordingly to how the grinds look. I want the JMAX because its the best looking to me and can grind even turkish powder, but It seems harder to go back and forth from espresso to drip so I might just save some loot and get the JXPro which has 12.5 micron steps instead of 8.

do you use a moka pot? when the italians talk about cups they mean like a shot of coffee, so its more like a 9 shot moka pot.
im probably going to buy a new one with a better handle but most of them are only 6 cup.

>>17753577
Yeah. A 4 cup was enough for me to make 2 200ml milk based drinks.

Also espresso question. Hoffmeme says to wet a teaspoon and stir dose of coffee beans before grinding to make it grind better, but does it affect the drink in the end? Last time I tried it it was bitter

>does it affect the drink in the end?
no
>Last time I tried it it was bitter
user error/placebo. i think using a tiny spray bottle is better, 1 spray and its the exact same of water every time and its even better for distribution.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8zqp3CgcbA

this is only for static, if you dont have/care about grinder static then dont use it.

coffee bros i never get the occasional bad brew anymore. once you get the grind right for your paper the switch just makes effortlessly good coffee that's near impossible to fuck up. I would never use my aeropress ever again but i'll be making a pure v60 here and there.

good if you are dumb as rocks and lazy and want alot of "good enough" coffee.
normies are used to coffee that tastes like dishwater or a cup of milk and sugar so even a basic french press brew with some average speciality pre ground coffee will blow them away or say they dont like it because they have the taste buds of a 90 year old pack a day smoker.
