Do you love to put mineral oil in your body?
This jew says you NEED mineral oil to cover your kitchen utensils and cutting boards.
He manages to mention it has Vitamin E, but strangely missing from this article is the word, "petroleum," which is what "mineral" oil is. Weird!

Petroleum derivatives?? Oh no, I hope don't run into and interact with them in every single other aspect of my life! Thanks for the heads up, buddy.

Vaseline is also a petroleum product but I don't hear you complaining when you spread that between your cheeks every day

Quite the contrary, vaseline is necessary for any dry food item that I cram up my ass

Is using beeswax a better idea?

Foodsafe mineral oil prevents rust while being safe to eat, in large amounts it's a laxative though.
>>17648832
No, you're trying to oil your knives, not shellac them.

What about beeswax for cutting boards? For knives I'd use camelia oil

I still don't see the benefit of using a coating that's solid at room temperature, but I've never used it.
See "Effect of the Chopping Board Material on Edge Longevity" on the site http://knifegrinders.com.au/16SET.htm for cutting board research in general.

Yeah, right, like all the other craps that are supposed to be "safe".

>>17646875
I've never used it, and both my cutting boards and knives are perfectly fine. But then, I wash and dry them as soon as I'm done using them, never letting any crap drying on it.

I thought wood was antibacterial already without me rubbing anything on it
