What's up /ck/. I'm gonna have my parents next weekend and I wanted to surprise them. I was thinking about making home made ice cream. Do any of you have a good but not so difficult recipe you don't mind sharing?

Kulfi is pretty low effort, but it has very specific ingredients.

if you want easy unfuckable cheats kulfi then here's a recipe I use quite a lot for when I need a quick dessert:

300ml double cream
300ml evaporated milk
150g sugar (something unrefined and lightish brown)
the seeds from 12 cardamon pods
2 tbsp rosewater

add it all to a pan, cook til it gets to boiling n the sugar n such is nicely dissolved, strain with a cheesecloth to get out cardamon seeds, add to mould n freeze (best after 3-4hrs, if its too long after they tend to go overly frozen in the middle so need gently warming before serving).

you can do it the classic way by using about 550-600ml whole milk in place of the evaporated and using some milk powder as well. cook on a low heat until reduced by half, but this can be quite time consuming if you don't want to spend too much time in the kitchen away from your parents

best served with something crisp or crunchy (fresh fruit, toasted nuts or some kind of crumble).

You can make a rather low calorie ice cream by whipping heavy cream into stiff peaks with an optional stabilizer and freezing. It can be made with only a whisk and a few ingredients, and in a relatively short period of time compared to other ice cream methods.

Jap method always gives me good results. Careful for freezer crystals, use a freezer-proof container.
