I would like to purchase the cheapest octopus I can find so that I may prepare a high quality octopus meal for me to eat. How much do you typically pay per volume for octopus? The good people of /ck/ will point me in the right direction inshallah.
>Isn't it interesting. The legs of the octopus can operate independently from the rest of the body. Imagine being one of the many octopus brains.

Already done brother.

I hope that isn't true. It is believed chicken that feels fear before death doesn't taste as good because the muscles tense up. I would think a similar logic applies to the octopus.

In Greece we beat the octopus on rocks to make it tender, it's somewhat expensive to buy fresh too.

Idk what "cheap" is for you, but I now pay $3.99/lb at my local fishmonger. Used to be $3.49. Squid used to be $1.99/lb but that jumped to $2.99. Cuttlefish is the same as it always was, $5.99lb. Lobster, too, $6.99/lb. I saw all these prices last Friday.

I pay about AUD$40 for 1kg of west Australian tenderised octopus legs (frozen). I usually thaw, boil in water for about 20 - 30min this step makes them extremely tender, cut them up into 2 inch pieces and marinade in garlic, oregano, evoo, lemon juice, red wine and parsley then put them on the charcoal grill to crisp up a bit.

Had a pet octopus for about 2 years, he'd always try to devise ways to escape to another tank I had close by.

I had to give him up due to moving a long distance. The new owner said he dropped into an almost depressed state for almost a six months, mated and died. Poor little guy.
