My dentist told me that braces really fuck your gums up because they stretch too much but your gums never really compensate. She said that most of her patients that need gum graft surgery are because they had braces and they pulled on the teeth too much so the root gets exposed. I was one of those people, though when some of my roots were apparently exposed, I literally never noticed it when I was brushing, flossing, or eating. I had the surgery because my work paid for it, and even after it didn't feel any different at all, I just had to deal with like a week's worth of the roof of my mouth constantly feeling like it was burning. What a fucking scam.

It hurts a lot at first but the pain goes away after a couple of days, then it turns into soreness that goes away after another couple of days. The pain and soreness will come back every time you get them adjusted. It's not THAT bad though, nothing some standard painkillers can't help with. It's been over a decade since I've had braces though, so I might not be remembering it that well. I think the worst part is how annoying it is to clean your teeth properly. Flossing takes forever and is annoying as hell. Also DO NOT eat popcorn while you have braces, you will regret it immensely. Those kernels that get stuck in your teeth are twice as hard to deal with while you have braces.

anyone saying they prefer their water "room temperature" rather than cold is exposing themselves as being from a non-white country where, historically, they would be more accustomed to drinking from natural water sources that are relatively warm. people from white (i.e. cold) countries are genetically accustomed to drinking from natural water sources that are freezing cold and thus prefer to drink (and bathe in) colder water
