I'm a tryhard fag when it comes to cooking, when I make a good BLT I use that THICK cut bacon from the butcher, a nice crusty bread, crisp butter lettuce, flavorful heirloom tomatoes from my neighbor, and I toast my bread in the pan with a ton of good cultured butter. Mayo and a ton of pepper on the inside of both sides of bread. I've even tried it with homemade mayonnaise using duck yolks from my duckfrens in the back yard.

It's over the top, but genuinely the best sandwich I've ever had anywhere. There's something really satisfying about taking a simple sandwich which can be flavorless with subpar ingredients, and transforming it into this incredible flavor bomb through ingredient quality.

I worked at a restaurant in my teens that was essentially gentrified pub food - classic food but prepared with a focus on ingredients and quality. The BLT they served there set me off on my quest to make the perfect iteration of that sandwich.

Based. Traditional Italian recipes not made for modern tourists are solely based on the quality of simple ingredients. It’s probably pretty entry level, but I watch a lot of Orsara Recipes on YouTube and I’m struck by how consistently simple the recipes are. You can tell that the focal point is the quality and flavor of a few ingredients. If any one of them were lacklustre, the whole dish suffers significantly. From what I’ve seen it definitely can be that - Mexico has such a weird variety in its food where some places are just about excess and appealing to tourists, where others are much more simple. The former tends to drown things in strong flavours like lime and raw onion so you lose a lot of nuance from other more subtle flavours, where the latter seems somewhat more focused on quality rather than flavour overload. That being said I’m not nearly as familiar with Mexican food as a leaf compared to European or even East Asian food. I would love a deep dive into the regions of Mexico and their food styles, but I haven’t actively looked for one honestly. I feel like Food Ranger had some pretty cool Mexico videos awhile back that showed some stuff that wasn’t the tourist-y ceviche and hard shell tacos kind of deal.

is accurate. Something about it just lacks balance. Too much salty pork counteracted by too much sour or something. Not in a good way. Cuban bread is an excellent vehicle for a pressed sandwich though. Superior sandwiches include a good cheesesteak (even a kind of shitty one that's still dank is better than most cubans). Same goes for a torta, banh mi, or Italian sub. Even middling examples of any of the above tend to be more interesting and satisfying than a "really good" Cuban to me. I should know because I used to live in Tampa and I also worked at a place out west that made far and away the best and most authentic cubano in a metro area of about 1.25 million people. They're good for a while but you just get sick of them. Kind of a one dimensional sandwich. Never get sick of Italian subs or banh mi though. A good pressed meatloaf sandwich is also superior. Cubano is B tier at best, C tier at average.

Just use the Escoffier version:
Proportions for 5 l:
650 g roux blanc (355 g sifted flour, 295 g clarified butter)
5 l boiling milk
300 g white and lean diced veal steamed white with 2 small finely diced onions, some thyme, pepper, nutmeg and 25 g salt.

The fasting version is the same just without the veal.

A quick version calls for finely diced onions, thyme, bay leaf and pepper cooked in milk for 10 minutes then strain the liquid into the roux.

You do know how they treat those baby pigs don’t you? They keep them in pens where they hardly have any room to move. Then they kill them when they are only 5 months old. Pigs can live well in to their 20’s. Seems a shame to slaughter them so young

"Donald Gorske of Fonddulac, Wisconsin has eaten more than 32,340 big macs in his lifetime."
And he's been married for nearly 40 years so he has still gotten more pussy than any of you ck incels. Donald says the big mac is the best "sandwich." I would classify it as a "burger" but considering it's between two slices of bread, perhaps it does meet the definition of "sandwich."

>it's more bread than meat
young zoomer, back in the day, the big mac had more meat and less bread. also at one time the french fries were cooked in beef fat but, in the 1990's, the jews stepped in and forced McDonald's to cook the fires in vegetable oil. Also the beef patties got smaller. I haven't eaten a Big Mac since 1975 and I haven't eaten fries from McDonald's since 1993. McDonald's used to be delicious just like Pizza Hut was delicious but the powers that be said "oh no you don't"
