Is there any point in consuming it if you care about your brain? It's easy to avoid the salty junk foods but what if you have a sweet tooth?

I'll have some chips or some shit every few months or if I'm at a social thing and there's finger food around.

For sweets I rarely eat them too but if I feel like it I'll just make something myself cause it's fun anyways.

The concept of "junk food" is a racist one perpetrated by Karens who can afford organic, gluten free, fair trade, locally produced slop.

I intentionally worded it like that because there are always contrarians who will tell you that it can be of use. I myself have withdraws, I feel hungry when I don't consume it. Since the brain needs sugar you have to acquire it somehow but it never feels the same with fruits.

I think junk food is fine as long as there is little to no sugar like Lays Chips. High sodium is not bad but high sugar is poisonous and causes various health problems. My advice for junk food is look at grams of sugar.

Our ancestors (before 1950s) had about 36 grams of sugar daily ONLY. Having more than that is not natural. One can of coke is 40 g of sugar by the way. So imagine drinking that with some high sugary snack.

>ancestors
Anon… that’s such a bad argument against sugar. Your ancestors were likely generally malnourished, at least to a mild degree. So what you’re essentially doing here is taking a reasonable and defensible argument (sugar is le bad) and rendering it ambiguous and flawed with this spurious analogy. Do better.

They fill soda with sugar to mask the bitterness of caffeine. The caffeine that soda doesn’t even need. It’s why caffeine-free soda has significantly lower amounts of sugar than coke or mountain dew; would be too sweet otherwise

Businessmen and tech workers of the 70s/80s tended to drink coke as an alternative to coffee. Diet coke was particularly popular before the panic over artificial sugars. The whole meme of fast-paced work and long office hours meant that rather than taking the time to brew up and prepare a coffee, you could just grab a coke from the fridge and be back to your desk in seconds.
Now all those young desk jockeys are old men who spent the last 40+ years of their life drinking coke. They're probably not going to stop just because you don't think it's an age/class-appropriate choice of drink.
