As a straight replacement for stock when added to plain water? Yeah, if done consistently because you don't know any better and think it's al the same. If you know it's not but just don't care and don't want to make your own, that just means you don't really care about food that much, which isn't necessarily a bad or low class thing.

I'll add a stock cube to actual stock, though. For most applications calling for liquids that aren't water, adding a good glug of red or white wine plus some bay leaves and a stock cube is a common thing for me, including most stock itself.

They're mostly pucks of flavored salt and a bit fat, treat them as such.
