Classic G&T is always great, provided I've got decent tonic on hand. My go to is fever tree because it's good and easy to come by.

A gimlet is another simple favorite of mine, do yourself a favor if you aren't already and make your own lime cordial, the store bought stuff is all shite.

Basically anything with gin and lime is generally very good in my experience. Got some limes and good cocktail cherries? Add a bit of soda and you've got a cherry lime gin Rickey.

Gin makes the best summer sipping cocktails by far, nothing beats it.

Hendricks is the easy answer for a good gin
Aviation is pretty good if you want something more spice-forward
I find strange monkey to be a pretty good all-around gin that's pretty versatile for basically anything you might want to do with it
Tanqueray and Bombay are just fine, but have never stood out to me much, for what they cost I usually get something else instead but I won't say no if it's all that's available.
Beefeater is pretty decent for being cheap shit all things considered

I tend to avoid gin, but I do like it in a Negroni. As for a beginner gin, Beefeater and Bombay Sapphire are the classics. Anyone who drinks gin has had them at one point, so they're a good point of reference.

Usually G&T with a dash of bitters.

Start with something entry level, make a Moscow Mule but with a London dry gin instead of vodka. Slowly work your way up to a gin Martini. If you don't like that, i'm afraid you might be gay or something.

You're drinking Gin based Liqueurs your fucking idiot. Or Old tom Gin, since they add sugar to old tom gins.
Normal Gin isn't sweet. I've drank several bottles of it, and the only one that was sweet was a liqueur I picked up on purpose to make sweeter gin and tonics since I had a sweet tooth at the time.

Tasted like watermelon.

But all the other gins I've had tasted straight like I was being punched in the face by a drunk man made out of several unique botanicals and herbs. Which is why I mix them, since other wise, while the gin tastes good, it becomes an exercise in suffering, which I know cause I forced myself to drink a wine glass of straight chilled gin once when i was first getting into it cause "Tonics are for neeeerds"

I mixed it in with tonic water and if was really good (although I need to practice getting a good ratio) but I also tried if with 1642 tonic water (which has boreal flavors as well) and it was even better. Do you guys have any recs for similar Gins? I was thinking of trying the Fjord km12 next or the Wabasso Conifère or the Distillerie Vent du Nord Le Norkotié. I even tried making my own last week with cinnamon apples (found a apple pie mix), juniper berries, peppermint, and pine needles using Ketel One vodka as a base but it was really strong and no one I made try liked it that much. I like gin because it has a wide variety of flavors available. For those of you who think gin all taste the same, try a "modern gin" instead of your bog standard London dry.

>gin is sweet shitpost from upthread
Not that guy, but depending on the botanicals used, gin can definitely come of as tasting "sweet", especially if it has a lot of clove, cardamom, etc character. It also needs to have a not-trash base spirit, else the astringency of a bad distillate will mask any and all sweetness.
