Eh, I've had cuy before, but it's nothing marvellous like some people pretend. It's on par with squab in terms of "semi-poverty food sold to tourists trying to act adventurous". It's mild, but the meat-to-effort ratio is not good enough to make it a staple.

The kinds of people who bitch about globalists and vegans are too scared to get their food from anywhere except a drive-thru. Their rage over food politics is a manifestation of their picky eater baby palate, the idea of having something that isn't the same happy meal they eat every day is terrifying to them and causes them distress the likes of which normies cannot possibly imagine.

Chickens are cute but I can't say I feel bad eating them. We all live and die for a different reason. To die for the good of another is the best death possible and in that sense, eating an animal honors them a death better than a huge majority of people can possibly hope for.

I want you to have access to what your parents ate and I want to eat what my parents ate, and continue to do the bantz with foreigners criticising each other’s cuisine. I’ve eaten them in Ecuador and they were okay. Nothing amazing but maybe I could have had them prepared better.

I’d raise and eat them if I had to because they are palatable and would be easy to raise. I would have no problem killing them and I don’t see them as pets. When I had a borzoi I used to take it really early in the morning to a field where there was a lot of rabbits and he would kill at least one or two every week, it was fun to watch and he really loved it so I would have no problem killing one of these things myself.

I had a wonderful guinea pig who lived for 9 1/2 years. Dad grew to love her, and was the one who would feed her nightly in the middle of her life. About a year in, since she was my idea, I took up the weekly cage cleaning and did it steadfastly even during the middle of her life when I didn't play with her much. At 8 years she had a strawberry-sized tumor flop out of her hoo-hah and I thought sure we'd have to put her down, but they snipped it off and she lived another year and a half. When she died we buried her under the bush in the backyard.

Better that every Peruvian be killed and eaten for their own flesh than that a single cavy be eaten. The cavy is a noble animal. R.I.P., Quark.

I'd RATHER KILL PERUVIANS THAN A PIG,

This, plus they lay eggs as well so more efficient. You can eat the smallest males and the females with low egg output, breeding a productive genetic line. They also eat just about anything and their poop is great fertilizer.
People who keep them in cages are not only cruel, but also wasteful. Chickens should be allowed to roam on compost heaps during the day, and sleep in hen houses at night. They'll eat food scraps and grubs from the heap and add rich fertilizer in return.

its one or the other. for all herbavores. leaves are SO hard to digest and get all the nutrients out of you need either a complex gut system with cud/vomit chewing or shit eating. one or the other. there is no inbetween. this is also why any claims that humans are not carnivores is laughable at best, because anyone who knows anything about the digestive system of multiple animals knows how this shit rolls.

I'm not that Anon but you're incredibly uneducated. You quite literally do absorb copper/iron if you're using pots made from those metals. This fact is so important that charities give fish shaped objects made of iron to people without a good source of iron to help meet their dietary needs.

>> No.17373167

>>17373148
Those "iron fish" are a scam by a Canadian "non-profit" organization (i.e. all proceeds go to lining their pockets). The region they advocated and promoted its use in Cambodia had high prevalence of anemia, but not due to iron deficiency. Use of the "iron fish" was found to have no impact on the levels of blood iron or the prevalence of hemoglobin disorders like anemia.
It was a scam, like 90% of these things.

>> No.17373182

>>17373148
And no, you don't fucking absorb copper by using copper pans. They're lined with a non-reactive metal because copper deteriorates in acidic conditions and contaminates the food to the point of toxicity.. Holy shit, you're retarded.

>Randomized controlled trial assessing the efficacy of a reusable fish-shaped iron ingot to increase hemoglobin concentration in anemic, rural Cambodian women

>Conclusions: Neither the iron ingot nor iron supplements increased hemoglobin concentrations in this population at 6 or 12 mo. We do not recommend the use of the fish-shaped iron ingot in Cambodia or in countries where the prevalence of iron deficiency is low and genetic hemoglobin disorders are high.

>> No.17373337

>>17373313
Sounds like the fish did provide iron into the blood but they weren't a good fit at tackling the country's problem desu, which is why the study notes the fish aren't recommended for countries where there's little iron deficiency. This study also used dietary iron. I think you're misunderstanding the point of this study.

I think the worst part of eating a pet animal would be the betrayal of trust. These guys are happy to see me, squeak and sing for me, and let me pick them up because they know I won't hurt them. It would be really vile behavior to kill something that loves and trusts you. But a farmed or wild-caught animal (even a farmed guinea pig) would be a completely different story.
