Why is this so popular despite its flaws as a culinary ingredient? Everytime I eat crayfish with the exception of spidercrab that is atleast prepared with its flavoursome skin, I keep thinking why am I paying 100 bucks for an inferior sea chicken?

Sounds like you should stop buying shitty crayfish and perhaps learn how to cook as well.

Sorry you ruined your tastebuds, try a restart diet and you might learn how to taste flavours besides MSG and salt again.

Imagine paying for crayfish kek get a crayfish trap and get them yourself for free. Probably the most passive fishing, you don't even have to stay there or pay attention.

they're still cheap if you live in a rice-growing region and catch them yourself
