put the slices in a baking pan big enough to just hold them all either in one layer or staggered.

cook it at 350F in the oven, flip every so often, and cook it to desired doneness.

when done, immediately pull them out of the grease, let them hang for a few seconds, then put them on a plate with a paper towel to catch the extra mess.

theres no way to screw this up, and there is very little splashing or smoke

I cook bacon almost every day in the oven. Center rack at 350 without flipping it, and the bacon always comes out crispy and the fat all rendered out. It tastes delicious, not sure why people think it gets ruined. It may not be QUITE as good as pan-fried, but it's a hell of a lot easier to manage and clean, especially if you're using the stovetop for other things.


Then I just pour the grease in a jar and use it for cooking.

i never eat strips of bacon, i usually only use it when crumble, and most often with brussels sprouts.

it may be weird, but what i started to do is i just put the whole package in the freezer and dont even open it. then when i need some, i literally just cut through a quarter of the package and put it back in the freezer. frozen bacon is much easier to cut, i just cut it into strips and fry it like that in a pan.

You are correct, bacon leather happens with the longer period in the oven at 350. I put my bacon in cold and turn the oven to 425 to give the fat time to render. When I hear the oven beep from getting up to temp, I know it’s time to flip soon (once I see it curl a bit) and give it another 5 minutes or so on the other side. That is as close to pan frying as I can get using a baking method.

This is the best way to make bacon. I used to make so much perfect bacon at my old job.
