I feel like Emeril was one of the guys who started making cooking look "fun" to people. Before that we had Julia Child or Jacques Pepin who were talented but not exactly "thrilling". One one hand maybe Emeril is the start of all the youtube reddit face cooking, on the other hand cooking at home is good and I can't blame somebody for increasing the appeal.
