saw this on Soprano's and wanted to try it, followed Chef John's recipe with marinara I made from my garden. Made it but haven't baked it yet. What am I in for?

Italian food is the Mexican food of Europe, same ingredients arranged differently so they can give it a different name. It's lasagna with tube noodles instead of lasagna noodles.

Mmmm sounds good as hell, i would say wait until cheese ontop is a bit less then golden brown and interior reads to atlest 120 something so everything is nice and warm

when I do mine I cook at 300 with foil on top to get everything all melted and warm then I add fresh cheese ontop and broil until a bit less then golden brown but, that's just me

It tastes exactly what it sounds like based on the ingredients. Baked Ziti is truly nothing more or less than it is.

A tummy ache from eating too much. Baked pasta dishes are my weakness .

yeah it was basically this, but was really good. I don't see a reason to buy 3 different kinds of cheeses though, doesn't make it any better.

Ziti al Forno
Baked Ziti with Little Meatballs
Serves 8 to 12
1 pound ziti
Salt
Sunday Gravy (page 14) made with little meatballs
1 cup freshly grated Pecorino Romano or Parmigiano-Reggiano
1 cup ricotta
8 ounces mozzarella, cut into small dice
Bring at least 4 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot. Add the ziti and salt to taste. Cook,
stirring frequently, until the ziti is al dente, tender yet firm to the bite.
Meanwhile, remove the meats, including the meatballs, from the gravy. Set the pork, veal, and
sausage aside for the second course, or for another meal.
Drain the ziti and put it in a large bowl. Toss it with about 3 cups of the gravy and half the
grated cheese. Stir in the meatballs.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Spoon half the ziti into a shallow 3 1/2-quart baking dish. Spread the ricotta on top and
sprinkle with the mozzarella and half of the remaining grated cheese. Pour on 1 cup of the sauce.
Top with the remaining ziti and another cup of sauce. Sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese.
Cover the dish with foil. (The ziti can be refrigerated for several hours, or overnight, at this point.
Remove from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before baking.)
Bake the ziti for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for 15 to 30 minutes longer, or until the center
is hot and the sauce is bubbling around the edges. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes before
serving

sheep milk cheese is expensive and doesn't add much to the dish to warrant it's price for what used to be a poor italian-american staple. Just people with money trying to validate wasting money.

Ziti isn’t real Italian food. The sopranos is as insulting and disingenuous towards Italian-American culture as a 90s Disney movie.

I mean, nobody cares about real 'Italians' Italian-Americans shot them down like dogs in WW2.

the italian-american mafia literally funded the war and dressed up their enemies that made their families flee to the states up in german uniforms so Patton's boys had something to shoot.
