Asking Americans & Canadians who grew up in the 80s.

Apparently there was a thing called "Ninja Turtle Pizza" back then. It was a pizza with four toppings. I can only remember three of them: red onions, shrimp, and tangerine wedges. I cannot remember what the fourth topping is. I also cannot remember what the exact source is. It could've been a major pizza chain doing a TMNT-based promo, it could've been a small shop somewhere in North America that made it up, or maybe it appeared in the TMNT canon (like in an episode or a comic book).
Does anyone remember?

Nothing, it's a marketing ploy to get parents to buy kids candy for their lunch. In a lot of cases, a fruit snack is worse than an actual fruit gummy candy

>The main differences between gummy candies and fruit snacks are the marketing and advertising approaches, and the use of refined sugar extracted from tapioca or fruit juice in addition to, or sometimes instead of, refined sugar extracted from sugar beets, corn, or sugarcane.

The McDLT was such shit. For one, the cheese was on the cold side, meaning you never got a proper melt going. But worse than that, the whole thing was a useless gimmick. A lot of the time, if you order McDonalds, you're going to eat it straight away, either in your car or in the restaurant or after a brief drive home or something. Makes the whole thing pointless. But even if you were going to eat it 20 minutes later, you'd be eating a soggy container. Why? The steam coming off the burger causes condensation to form in the styrofoam container and drip all over the fucking burger. Oh, and the containers were awkwardly long, so they'd go into a regular Mcdonalds bag sideway, causing one side to slide into the other. Just an absolute disaster.

taco salad sounds right, it looked very similar to that. you were right about it tasting better than it looked.

most of my schools lunches came in oven-safe packaging with a clear film on top of them. The taco salad, mac and cheese, pizza, and mashed potatoes are all the things I can remember being highlights. the cheeseburger was fast-food tier yet the nuggies always soggy. the corn was dreadfully plain and not even sweetcorn.

Also somewhat closely related, another early 00s tube food. Me and a friend used to sell these to other little kids for a buck each in our neighborhood. I think they were like $5 for two dozen of them at the CVS, we just had to walk over there and buy them, freeze them for a couple of hours and walk around the neighborhood with these in a towel lined bag.
First taste of entrepreneurship at an age of 10.

Anybody ever have frozen burritos that were some little Juan brand or something? Had a logo that looked like the Maruchuan ramen kid but in a sombrero. Would have been late 80s/early to mid 90s. I cant find even a trace they actually existed online. I remember them being super good, especially the chicken chimichanga.

I had a similar situation happen with pic related. I wanted to try it so bad because I'd seen the commercials and I finally got it and I drank probably half the pitcher over the course of maybe an hour and it made me sick and it was the first time I'd experienced throwing up mass amounts of liquid. I still remember it tasted exactly the same coming up as it did going down. I'd probably drink it today if they still sold it, I did enjoy the flavor.

Can someone in this thread help me find information on a product? They were mini-hotdogs that were either Fantastic Four branded, or for at least some period of time had the team on their packaging. This was the earlyish 90s in the US.

I'll never forget my first calzone.

>be me.
>be in elementary school.
>Pizza Day.
>get in line to grab my slice.
>line is pretty long, so I start experimenting with the range of rotation of my limbs & head while I wait.
>both feet are near 180° & my head is rotated ~150° when the menu chalkboard catches my eye.
>"stuffed crust pizza &... cal... calzone?"
>finally, get to the lunch window & ask what a calzone is.
>lunch lady explains that it's, "like a pizza, there's cheese inside, but you dip it in the sauce."
>naturally, I must experience this new to me pizza-like food.
>she deposits one on my tray, I grab some choccy milk, & take my seat.
>instructions & caution thrown to the wind.
>cut a large piece off & fork it into my mouth.
>it's all cheese.
>too much cheese.
>mistakes were made.
>i make a valiant attempt to chew what is in my mouth to no avail, & begin to choke.
>none of the lunch aides notice the retard choking to death, so I end up fishing out the partially chewed globs of mozzarella & dough from my throat by hand.
>after a brief rest to regain my composure, I get up & throw the tray of supossed food out.
>sit back down & drink my chocolate milk.

Two decades later, & I haven't had a calzone since.

If anyone really cared to, you can read up on how many products, fro the '80s to the mid '00s truly were about selling something else, whether selling an Ideology, early priming for adult tastes, or overpriced garbage toys that weren't to be played with so much, as collected and hoarded.
This is a redpill many of you won't want to swallow--It's OK, the damage is already done. There's no turning the clock back now.
On the plus side, if you really want those school lunch pizzas, you can buy them by the flat. This was discovered here years ago. It's in the archives.

Chinese takeout. More specifically, the pricing structure. I remember when you could get a 3-item lunch special with your choice of rice or noodles for $4, and the portions were big enough for at least 2 meals. Now it's like $9 or higher and it might be just exactly enough for one meal.

Well, this isn't just some outta my ass statement--It's 20 years of research on why the world is soooooo fucked up. Most of It leads back to advertising starting most flagrantly in the 70s.
You'd be AMAZED at the amount of time and money spent just learning how to effectively manipulate people.
Hint: Take the number you think it is, and add 3-4 zeroes to it.
I wish they hadn't scrubbed all the you-tub e videos from the guy who bought an insiders guide to effective subliminal advertising. He had training manuals, notes from actual marketing campaigns, and even walk through films of effective usage of archetype and libido in everything from strawberry jam to luxury cars.
ALL GONE.
And that was only one segment of it. you are aware that almost 90% of ALL PRODUCTS are sold by the same 7 main companies, yeah? Well, the bleed over is pretty staggering.
You can imagine what having over 100 years to perfect their approach and conglomerate might have.
