I have to admit, there are some really disgusting dishes to be found in america, but they're also more liberal in their application of ingredients and spices. Traditional european cuisine was all about creating something tasty with the really limited amount and diversity of ingredients available to the average man. And since people ate mostly traditional foods until a few decades ago, that legacy lingers. Americans with their attitude of abundance have no such qualms. The results are both disgusting fat bombs and fireworks of sweet, hot, spicy flavours that you don't find anywhere in traditional european dishes.
