I'm not American, so I'm confused. Why is it that people who don't live on the American coast are so insecure about those who do? You can tell they feel attacked, but I've never seen a "coastie" make fun of someone inland, it's always the other way around.

What? I'm a coastie and liverwurst is pretty popular. Not as much as other luncheon meats, but when I worked in a deli we sold a decent amount of liverwurst sandwiches. I've always loved it myself. Why do flyovers think that coasties don't enjoy the same foods they do? Our criticism isn't that your "hearty steak and potatoes" meals are bad, it's that those types of meals are all you have. The entire midwestern cook-book consists of baked items and crock pots. We have all that shit on the coast, including an amazing diner culture where you can sit down and eat hearty meals for cheap. We have a much larger variety of foods other than that, which midwesterners lack.

There are plenty of delis and diners on the coast yet you flyovers act like they don't exist here and everything is some high-end hipsterish restaurant where you pay $300 for a single shrimp with sauce and a leaf. There are plenty of good Amish places around the coastal areas. Pennsylvania has the largest Amish population out of every state and you can reach Amishville driving less than an hour out of Philly.
