Donkeys don't produce a lot of milk, you need 25l of milk to make 1 kg of cheese, only one farm has the means to make a living out of it in one specific natural reserve.

Plus morons like OP who drive up the price.

I’d say that’s a bit different.
At least a horse can have a diet similar to a cow.
A dog will go out of its way to eat garbage, cat shit, other animals’ vomit, etc.
can’t really pasture-raise a dog.

Yes; my brother-in-law and my sister turned me into a cheese-fiend, so I'd eat any cheese made from any animal as long as it's safe, humans included.
Sometimes I fantasize that there are straight-up pure natural hippies, running around in country fields with exposed engorged breasts, and are selling their excess raw milk and people are making cheeses, soaps, and other milk-based things from it.

>A dog will go out of its way to eat garbage, cat shit, other animals’ vomit, etc.
>can’t really pasture-raise a dog.

that's an interesting argument because it reminds me of a pig, which I assume is the reason why some people dislike eating pigs. their main argument is a pig eats slop, vomit, and shit. And apparently it grosses them out.

But you're wrong. You could raise a dog as a pig, you can feed it slop, random proteins and random veggies. So what's the counter argument to that?

>> No.16793839

>>16793718
I have no firsthand counter argument.
But I would point to the fact that despite a number of people/cultures eating pork quite commonly, I don’t offhand know of one who consumes pig-milk or makes “dairy” products based on pig-milk.
That being said, I would still try it just to see if it’s palatable.

Same. Both intentionally (in Belgium and France), and unintentionally (in the UK, where it turns out like 10 years ago it was discovered something like 40% of processed frozen beef products contained horse DNA.

I have no idea why some people make such a big deal about eating horse. I don't think it's much different than eating beef or pork. Horses aren't pets, they're livestock. Some people act like it's the same as eating dog or something.

>> No.16796347

I'm the pig cheese guy btw
Dog cheese is worse because although dogs also eat literal garbage, even less so than pigs, that's the whole point of a pig.
Think of it like this: a pig, it is made to eat garbage and so it is very good at processing garbage properly. It is not only good at properly absorbing nutrients from garbage, but also good at properly rejecting the actual garbage contained within.
A dog, however, is just a dumbass fucking dog who eats anything not because it's viable to eat anything but because it's a gluttonous beast. The dog not only gains no real benefit from eating garbage but it also maladapted to the consequences of doing so.
The dog milk will be impure whereas the pig milk will be purified by the glorious machine that is its incredibly generalistic digestive system, even if they both consume the same type of garbage.
