It doesn't taste like cayenne though. I just double checked and the ingredients don't include pepper or chilli of any kind.
>Enriched Corn Meal (Corn Meal, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Vegetable Oil (Corn, Canola, and/or Sunflower Oil), Flamin' Hot Seasoning (Maltodextrin [Made from Corn], Salt, Sugar, Monosodium Glutamate, Yeast Extract, Citric Acid, Artificial Color [Red 40 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Yellow 6, Yellow 5], Sunflower Oil, Cheddar Cheese [Milk, Cheese Cultures, Salt, Enzymes], Onion Powder, Whey, Whey Protein Concentrate, Garlic Powder, Natural Flavor, Buttermilk, Sodium Diacetate, Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate), and Salt.
No wonder it tastes like such shit.

They're able to get away with their proprietary stuff under "natural flavors." I'm with you that I can only taste heat on top of regular cheeto, so it would not surprise me if they used straight capsaicin.

>In May 2021 the Los Angeles Times reported that Frito-Lay had begun an internal investigation in 2018 following a complaint by Greenfeld. The company, which had not previously contradicted Montañez's story publicly, said of the results of that investigation: "None of our records show that Richard [Montañez] was involved in any capacity in the Flamin' Hot test market ... we do not credit the creation of Flamin' Hot Cheetos or any Flamin' Hot products to him."[30] Additional reporting by the Times indicated that Montañez's claims did not line up with other events in the product's release timeline, including newspaper articles announcing the test market release in 1990, and Enrico not joining Frito-Lay until later that year.

America's food culture is unique in how bad it is getting.

Generally people don't cook here and have very inexperienced palates, so even when people open local restaurants, they usually just buy pre-made food to reheat from restaurant depot and think that is "high quality"

Now they're taking cheap flavored brands that we are all familiar with (cheetos/doritos) and putting it into food as though it's a genuine culinary ingredient.

how low can we go?

>>16630432
hispanic food is unironically poverty-tier food.

European food is unique in how transformative it is with its ingredients. The raw ingredients are very very different from the final product in quality dishes.

In hispanic food, the raw ingredients are more or less wrapped up, mixed together, or just prepped in some quick and cheap way with the end result being very obvious what is in it.
