Cajun food is the best American cuisine, but a fuck ton of people make bullshit claims to it. The gumbos, stews, sauce piquantes, and boil recipes are all passed down by mouth and never written down, we also do not allow women to cook the food.

I've seen someone claim they were cajun and could cook cajun then made a gumbo with tomatoes and had the gaul to try and serve it to me. Then to add insult to injury they whipped out a fucking tobasco bottle. Tobasco IS FUCKING ASS and anyone who uses it is a fucking larping retard

My mother is a southern black lady. She is urbanized as all fuck but the southern culture was strong with her side of my family. I learned how to make some awesome southern dishes from my mom and my grandmother. Cornbread, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac & cheese, fried chicken, all that good shit. No fancy kitchen shit either or anything either, all of it cooked on the stovetop and oven. I remember thinking tossing a turkey neck in the green beans was some gross shit, but it does make the best tasting green beans ever.

Same here. Mother is Italian, she cooked home cooked meals every night. The odd night we'd eat some KFC or something.

It was quite the contrast to when I started getting involved with my wifes side of the family. Her father could barely make popcorn in the microwave, and her mother is a depressed sack of potatoes who just doesn't cook.
When we go over for anything I'm literally falling asleep because of how fucking boring and white her family is.
