It’s called ice cream of the future because it basically requires you to put it in cryogenic stasis to keep it from melting. So you need a special ultra cold freezer, a regular freezer cant do it. That means it will pretty much never be the default ice cream unless for some reason everyone decided they all need mega ultra cold special freezers in general.

Not really but you're on the right track. Shit melts too fast so if the grocer doesn't put it away immediately, has it next to lights, people have the door open too often, or just don't have the freezer all the way down (which costs them money); all of these things means it's fucked.

What makes matters worse is it won't survive the trip home to your freezer, which most people don't set to "anti-arctic" even though it's usually available. Dots thaws too fast. Basically a lot of the issue is that it melts if you look at it wrong.
