Thanks guys. I've had this before, and it typically goes away after about a week. I'm poor and have had shitty doctors who don't care, so I think I'll ride it out and see what happens. If it doesn't go away, I'll stop being such a piece of shit and get a better job with health insurance. There's no pain or anything, just sometimes sharp, but mild pain in the stomach and kidneys. Anyways, I guess don't drink vodka on an empty stomach for months on end. That's how this happened to me. So do you drink the bottle with a couple hours in the evening or drink it throughout the whole day? Seems to me the only people that get withdrawals are the ones that drink all day every day. I drank that much for 10 years every day but never got withdrawls

>> No.16511328

>>16511264
Well I used to drink hard and fast. Like a pint in an hour to be good for 6 hours, then the next pint at night. I did that for about a year straight, and got withdrawal for the first time, which shocked me, (never even knew there was withdrawal from alcohol).. the more times you go through withdrawal, the easier it is to experience it. That is called the Kindling Effect. Now, if I even drink for 3 days straight, I get withdrawal. But yes, once I start drinking, I'm terrified of withdrawal, so spread the fifth throughout the day, and wake up at night to take drinks to fall back asleep. So 24/7.

>> No.16511340

>>16511264
>>16511328
That being said, some people aren't as prone to withdrawal as others. It's shocking to me that you had been drinking like that for 10 years straight without experiencing it even once though.. not even a slight shake of the hands, or mild anxiety? I was drinking like I said above for about a year, and one day stopped completely. I remember just sitting in my room feeling very depressed, and suddenly, my heart started beating so hard and fast I felt like it would pop out of my chest. I knew I needed to drink, so did. Ever since that day, my life with drinking has been rather hellish. Be careful, anon! Withdrawal is extremely unpleasant, and heavy withdrawal to the point of DT's is straight up hell.

>> No.16511362

Maintenance drinking is drinking just enough to stave off withdrawal symptoms and be able to sleep. The goal is not to really get drunk, otherwise you're forced to eat the W/Ds even while still going at it. In essence, it's an endless taper schedule that you can't be bothered to actually complete and keep fucking up by overdoing it.

Mine's not so bad, but when I can't keep 'em down then I've most likely overdone it and my body throws me through a loop. I'm convinced that half of the withdrawal stories of hallucination and brain zaps are from your bog-standard insomnia induced symptoms. The glutemate storm, however, is very real.

Interesting. How much were you drinking a day before this maintenance schedule and how much do you drink under this maintenance schedule?
Also, wtf is a glutamate storm?

I used to collect beer cans. Around 2010 I opened a 1994 or so Sturgis Miller High life because the can was worthless. Beer was still ok. Around the same time curiosity got the better of me and I opened a late 70's PBR. The contents can only be describes as dank smelling snot.

I'm fairly into my cup now checking back up on my thread. I drink around 20 beers a day, and have gone from good beer, to macro, to light beer, and now Miller 64 which clocks in at 2.8 abv. Who'd have thunk even pounding this near-beer could still cause this effect? Anyway, the glutemate-storm can best be described as what comes up must come down. So, drinking feels relaxing and jovial. You've spiked your GABA and now this neurochemical comes back to bite you. At the worst it feels like extreme anxiety, impending doom, and physically like my heart is going to explode. Trying to down a drink doesn't even bring relief, just trying not to throw up. This takes a few days of feeling like your raw nerve endings are screaming, then the relief comes after the first night of actual sleep instead of raw fever dreams.

I'll tell you now, keep taking your multi-vitamin, B-Complex, and ZMA. It helps to ward it off.

I relapsed after 2 years at start of COVID and haven't stopped since. I couldn't handle the stress and had no access to anything to calm my anxiety but alcohol, and the media was pushing the 'sky is falling' narrative so hard that I figured fuck it, if we're all gonna die might as well have a drink.

Drunk texting/FB messaging pretty much ruined my reputation in high school lel. Freshman year I was a happy-go-lucky athlete that everybody liked, by senior year I was just known as that crazy alcoholic guy and had serious depression. Mental illness comes at you fast when you're a guy.

Of course. I had the first seamless aluminum can (still used a church key) Hamms unopened. Had several nice cone-tops as well. (Cans with bottle tops) For some reason my wife didn't like a basement full of 400 beer cans to display.

I think collecting craft cans/bottles would be dumb since so many of the companies are disposable, the ones from major brands would be cool to have though.

Yeah, I developed a habit of hiding the phone and removing the power cord from the computer. If you just put them behind a bunch of obstacles that are difficult to get to with impaired motor function, you'll usually give up on the notion before you can carry it out. You'll probably also smash some stuff trying to get to them, but that's a smaller problem.

Now it's a dumb hobby, unless you go vintage. You can't go to a dump any more, or look in old barns for valuable cans. Now you just have to buy, and brewers can print a special edition of a can in no time.
