I live in a small white town. 7k people. We have a great downtown strip with like 10 restaurants/bars. Reminds me of older times where the whole town shuts down for HS football games, people get along, everyone knows each other.

We had one restaurant that opened up in early March. Ate their once. Apparently they never came back after covid. Felt bad for them.

We have one restaurant that has a sign that says if you voted for Biden we don’t want your money. It was always a shit tier restaurant but is now packed every time I drive by.

We only have 2 “chains” since we try to keep shit local. Small businesses. One is a Hungry Howies and the other is a McDs. They’re both still operating fine and have been throughout the pandemic. There is supply chain shortages everywhere so McDonald’s got rid of their bagel breakfast sandwich line.

The farmers market has been packed with people selling their home grown produce and honey and the like so that has been nice to see.

No other restaurants closed down but the smoke shop, t shirt silk screening business, movie theater, antique/boomer gizmos and gadget shop and a few hair salons/barbers did.

Some liberal douche lady on our towns local Facebook page tried to start a BLM protest last summer (apparently because a lot of other people were doing it) and like 10 people showed up with her to March around on the sidewalk. Apparently some Maga boomers organized a counter protest and a group stood around our towns statues armed and another group of them protested in a group of a few hundred walking behind the BLM talking shit until the BLM people just went home. Our town only has 18 cops on payroll I felt bad for them but other than that the pandemic has had a low impact here most people mind their own business and ignore the government mandates. I don’t think people wore masks since last fall

There's a noodle restaurant right outside uni which has been ambiguously closed for a year and a half now. I hope it opens up again. It was spenny but tasty.
