Im a leaf and i do.
i bought a house recently and the previous owner didn't have a dryer, only a washer in a closet.
to add a dryer in the same closet would require too many interventions, such as removing a wall.
so im just going to have it in the kitchen, but it'll be hidden by a door.

>do americans really have washing machines in kitchen?
That's a decidedly unamerican placement. Kitchen machines don't exist in the US. Cheap construction not to hire a pumber to do it elsewhere. Often it's a combination unit that dries it too, and holds about 3 outfits tops.
In the US, it's usually in a dedicated laundry room with folding areas like tables, a handwash drying rack, a garage, or in a multi-story house situation at the bottom of a nice laundry chute to a basement laundry area, in newer construction usually upstairs closer to bedrooms to prevent stairs and make it easy. The issue with upstairs is more infrastructure so that leaks won't damage surrounding areas, so there are essentially showerpans put down with different flooring, kind of the same reasons water heaters are in watersafe garages and basements too.

People who live in condo buildings who were built with coin operated community washers will remodel, and replumb to convert a hall closet or linen closet area to have their own compact washer and dryer, double-stack, and this has been ever since the world's fears of HIV, or living in an association with a hospital worker that does their own scrubs at home. Without your own machine, you should always do an empty or white load first, with bleach, to cleanse the machine from other people's fecal matter. Gross but true.

This is a real working kitchen. This kitchen has cute bones with good quality molding on the doors and windows. Wood cabinets, and nice big plank floors.

I'd do some less modern handles on those drawers and cabinets, and nothing more than get a hinged painting to hide your circuit breaker panel. I'd also change out your microwave to be a combination vent-a-hood microwave the next time either one of them craps out. You got a mismatch there on all 3 appliances, amid plenty of height over the stove. Last but not least, consider a glass or wooden pantry door, you have swing radius to replace the cheap closet panel. It will also keep kitchen moisture out of there. Make it match the rest of your cute cabinets and doors, the same era.

It's a big long area for the hot water heater, washer, and dryer. The people that owned it before put a shower rod and curtains across it. I hated that look. I could do those stupid sliding wood panel doors, but I hate that idea. What I really just need to do is do a dark stain on them.

Thanks for the tip on the circuit breaker. I'll definitely consider the microwave hood whenever I replace the stove. I hate the gap between it and the counters as well as not being stainless.

I'm not liking the round knobs, almost seem a mismatch from the handles. I had that brown formica cabinet thing in the 1970s, so not a big fan, but you have too much of it to replace.
