You don't cook them.

Deliciousness. I like to crack a can of the kids and eat them on pilot bread while drinking some popov. If I am feeling extra fancy I will slice some onions.

Kippers, you don't cook them. Unless you're using them as an ingredient.

Do you prepare this dish like a salad, all mixed up in a bowl? I'm having trouble picturing it.

>> No.16443675

Probably a sandwich or open sandwich

You take the pilot bread, put bits of fisk on it, take a bite, wash it down with popov. Sometimes you take a slice of onion, and put it on the pilot bread before the herring.

I mash and mix tuna/herring/sardines/etc. with avocado , onion, olives, pickles, lime juice , honey mustard, and mayo for my sandwiches. Maybe I'll put a nice piece of French bread in the oven and make a melt with it.

>toast slices of rye bread (can be done in pan if you don't have a toaster, you just want to get it a little crispy and warm)
>fry eggs
>put egg, onion, sauce, herring fillets on bread
done, simple as. Preferably open-faced.

Sounds really fucking nice
I've taken to making a similar sardine spread with
>sardines, little mayo, lemon juice, onion, fine diced pickles and or pickled champignon mushroom, green onion, red onion, diced tomato, tiny bit of cayenne, pepper, salt, minced garlic and dill
>let rest for just a few minutes to let the acidity soak in
Put that on toast or crackers and you're having a good time
