You have to understand canned sardines in the context that most of /ck/ are unemployed/underage poorfags.

Canned sardines have always been a food for the poor.
I like them, but mostly because my first memories of canned sardines was eating them with my grandfather back when my family was poor as fuck. So it’s a “comfort food” for me.

But even as canned fish goes, smoked/kippered herring is much better.

what brand did you buy, OP? They are pretty fishy, but I would still keep trying because they are very nutritious. Try more acidic recipes to neutralize the fishiness a bit, puttanesca with sardines instead of anchovies is nice, though just pairing them with a cracker and lemon or vinegary hot sauce is nice too
