OP let me introduce you to a truly special exotic fruit very few have ever even heard of

>> No.16279599

What do you mean? You keep choosing rotten fruit? Check closely that they're good quality and nothing is crushed or looking strange or irregular. You can't go too wrong

Bananas - at least brown spots

Mangoes - squeeze it and the dent should remain for a while

Apples -pretty much always good unless they're heavily bruised

Strawberries - if they look perfect it's not ripe, if it looks moldy it's trash

What do you mean? Do you suck at deciding what fruit to eat, or do you suck at picking good quality fruit? If the latter is what you mean, just buy fruit and you'll eventually learn what makes different kinds good. Mangoes, for instance, should be soft but not mushy. Oranges should be firm but not real hard. The colour can be indicative of quality as well but really this is something you should just find out by trial and error.

One thing most Americans ignore is smell. Smell the fruit. It should be fragrant. In conjunction with squeezing the fruit it should guide you on ripe fruit. Also buy fruit when its in season. If in the US, november to around may is citrus season. From may to august is stone fruit (may and june cherries). Apples are late summer fall fruits. Mangos from florida are ripe june- august. Watermelons are summer fruit.

Tropical fruits are always nice as they have a little tang. Fruits that are just sweet are okay but not the best.

Pineapple is 10/10.
