my favorite american cuisine is american bbq so thats a lot of texas and south eastern stuff. if you're on a road trip through the states hit every bbq spot in every city cuz you're really gonna get a feel for the regional differences and dishes. however after that i like southwestern food the best because of all the mexican influence. unfortunately i feel like southwestern food hasnt been developed to its true potential though, i could see what happened with New Nordic Cuisine happening with American Southwestern Cuisine if there were chefs out there ballsy enough to work on it. they kind of have the same hurdles and problems that can be solved in very similar ways

It depends honestly. The south has meat and BBQ on lock down. The west coast Mexican food that rivals the boarder states (and wins i would say) on top of the best Asian food (New York might beat us in American style Chinese). The east coast has some of the best seafood and Cuban food on the southern side and a shit ton of options up north (Italian and deli food come to mind). The mid west is a food desert but im sure they have something good.

Depends on what you want. I lived in Cali for my first 24 years, had great Asian and Mexican food. You could get anything you want but those I’ve learned were pretty remarkable. I live in a small town in Texas and the barbecue style food is the best I’ve ever had. Despite living south of California’s southern border, I actually don’t care for the Mexican food out here. Granted it’s TexMex which is different.

I understand that there’s a war in the south about which state/region has the best BBQ but I’ve had the best steak of my life from a corner shop that sells meat out of a building the size of my closet so I think it’s really just splitting hairs.
