I am. My (mentally ill) mother literally did not let me the kitchen without her supervision until I turned 16 and went to live with my dad, who also doesn’t know the first thing about cooking.

Now I’m 26, moved out and subsisting on frozen stuff out of the supermarket and fast food. I tried cooking very simple dishes, but I need recipes written literally for retards and preschoolers, and there are very few of those out there, most assume at least some degree of knowledge and skill. To give you an example, I had to google “how to determine if the water is boiling”, spent 30 minutes on that because people assume you’re not THAT retarded. I have also never peeled a fruit in my life.

I mean yeah at work but ot was typical shit of just not following recipes (put a Mexican spice blend on crackers that were supposed to be furikake the names weren't close and the spices look nothing alike) always trying to 86 half his station because he was lazy and (possibly intentionally) slow at basic stuff like making lettuce blends. Scratched every single nonstick egg pan in a single shift to sear bread pudding because he used metal spatulas and then catch him cleaning a pasta roller he used to flatten the crackers by running water over it. Guy was like 36 so it's not as if he was some kid that's never had a job before, clains he was a marine even but clearly had zero discipline or ability to follow directions. Missed a shift due to apparently not knowing the schedule was posted (a week in advance) and even after the chef gave him a second chance he no call, no showed the next week. Think he had autism or something and chef felt bad for him but he had no common sense and we were too busy to babysit a grown man on a simple salad station.

Many a study have cited the dopamine rush of sharing one's opinion or just casually browsing them online. There's also a lot written about feedback loops and how certain behaviors being normalized through consensus leads to worsening of those behaviors; gangstalking is a good symbolic example. Although this has always applied to the internet, smartphones have greatly increased ownership and rate of speed. I'm not aware of a /pol/-specific version, I've only ever been exposed to normal people who think they're being followed, and they don't usually think it's the government. No one on /pol/ is important enough to warrant glowies following them but that literally is their job.

Anon, buy this book, it's on sale right now. It's very helpful. After that you can move on to the regular "how to cook everything". I'm not joking when I say it's really helpful. I didn't cook or bother to learn when I was a kid and teen. When I moved out of my parents place I ate nothing but fast food and take out. I'm no chef now or anything, but I can cook well enough for my self and occasionally impress some friends with the things I make.

I'm not a great cook myself, but my old college roommate used to cook everything in an unwashed aluminum cake pan in the oven because he was insistent he was "seasoning" it. So, fast food or whatever would all get thrown in this greasy, fatty, dirty pan all the time. Super gross.
