I'm new to whiskey, but have taken a few suggestions from these threads.
So far I've drank Wild Tukey 101, Monkey Shoulder, J&B Rare, and Bulleit Bourbon.
I really enjoyed both Bulleit Bourbon and Wild Turkey 101 thus far, and am open to any suggestions of what my next bottle should be

got these yesterday. Machir Bay was a last resort as they had no Springbank or Kilkerran. it stands up to brown label Peat Monster, but has a more vegetal character.

Bunna is quite nice. I've been comparing it to Glendronach 12. Bunna is more nutty(like the peanuty part of a bourbon)than fruity(reminds me of the blackberry crumble from the school cafeteria, more tart than sweet) and I have yet to get the "salty/briney" notes. maybe its the black liquorice/anise bit on the finish?

For me it has become a regular occurrence.
I wake up with a really nasty hangover and I catch that smell and tell myself "Shit, not again...", get up and look at the pile of turd, then I'm too hungover to clean it up so it really sinks into the carpet, and is a big pain to clean.

The Knob 9 year is nice. Woodford is a very basic, classic bourbon. Nothing special, but very versatile. Their double oaked is quite a bit better.

>> No.16097754

>>16097603
my only experience with Knob is a store pick thats nearly 15 years old, but generally I enjoy Beam products as they are nothing like Brown-Forman(Jack Daniel's, Woodford, Old Forester, banana notes SUCK)bourbons. Knobs are usually less sweet and fruity and more dry and nutty/oaky unless you you go with something flavored(dont do it Jimmy). Old Gran Dad is good also, slightly less oaky and more rye in the profile(a nice cinnamon warmth) and less expensive, but a little younger generally.

Tried it last night and God damn it was good. I'm amazed at the levels of complexity it brought for such a high ABV (66%). I expected something similar to Vicomte cask strength that sported an ABV of 67.8%. but while the later felt like an uppercut each sip, APCS is surprisingly mellow and sweet.

Although I haven't had it in a while, I'd say this was similar and prrhy even better than Lot40 CS
