Because rationing did an absolute number on Bri'ish cuisine. Canned beans, made with a new recipe which forgoes meat as otherwise it would count towards a meat ration, became commonplace and normalised the population to low effort processed foods and thus with refridgeration becoming a common thing the frozen shite like potato waffles, smiley faces and turkey dinosaurs became household favourites because then they didn't have to put in any effort to cooking them. The american imports (nuggies, pizza etc.) came about later.
