My parents always used a coffee can, metal, so it's fine to add while hot, but understand it's stil dangerous to you, as it can tip over, spill, drip onto a burner that it hot, etc. Best to let it come to room temp before the pour. If you need the stovetop space immediately, I sometimes park it in an oven to cool, and take care of it hours later. I might wipe out a pan with a paper towel into the trash on top of some newspapers or something to absorb it, it still warm, and not solid.

Use thicker glass or pottery.

>> No.16017397

if you're doing this again, run hot water on the outside of the jar for a minute or two beforehand.

Ive been saving bacon grease in glass jars for years and never had this happen, sometimes while the jar is cold right out of the fridge
Try using jars with thicker glass (used jam/jelly jars work pretty good) or you can try adding a bit of neutral oil beforehand to quench the heat

heat and glass causes air and air between glass to expand thusly cause breakage.

The next time you open a can of something clean it out and save it for bacon fat. If you don't want it sitting on the counter then set it in the freezer.

If I intend to save rendered animal fat, yes you fucking idiot. Either that or a pyrex dish of some kind. You dont own a standard pyrex measuring cup? Why are you even here if you clearly dont even cook?
