To be honest, I'm not really concerned about animal welfare. Neither that much about environmental issues concerning factory farming.

Selfishly, I just want to not die from the #1 most likely cause of death for me, which is heart disease. I just want to lose weight and feel great.

I'm vegetarian actually, not vegan. Vegs have wonderfully lower blood pressure. I mean everyone knows eating too much meat (especially artery clogging animal fat), eggs, cheese, deep-fried french fries, sugar-loaded foods, processed foods, etc. are obviously bad for you.

It's about moderation. Maybe some day I'll have a steak once or twice a year or something. It's about making small or medium or big changes. It's about wanting to get /fit/, lower blood pressure, lose weight. It's about reversing type 2 diabetes. It's about preventing and treating heart disease and cancer.

It's about curing constipation (1 bowel movement a day is very marked constipation) and resetting that gut microbiome flora, which can clear the blood, body, and mind.

It's about clearing out many possible backed up meals, which can poison the gut microbiome and reverse poison the entire system. This is one of the most overlooked, very possibly almost universal, causes and aggravators of dis-ease and illness. Some people are more concerned about frequently changing the oil on their cars than clearing out and changing their poisoned gut microbiome flora, flushing out the bad and planting/inoculating the good, one way with probiotics for example.

It's about 3 massive glorious bowel movements a day from eating tons of salads, fruit, fiber, seeds, nuts, and an occasional beyond or impossible burger or three. It's about clearing up your liver, your burdened kidneys, your skin. It's about cold & lukewarm showers in the morning to cure morning sluggishness and depression.

It's about still going hunting & slaughtering animals for others even if you yourself don't. And a lot of the food tastes like meat.

The simplest kind you can make is the block and wheel cheeses from skye conroy.

The tl;dr is you blend a bunch of stuff together (soy milk, melted refined coconut oil, tapioca starch, kappa carrageenan, and various flavorings), cook it to 175F, quickly whisk in acid ingredients (like lactic acid powder or apple cider vinegar), then pour into a mold and let set. It gets better if you age it for at least a few days.

That was for one or two particular metrics, I forget which one. I believe that since these studies were done over decades ago, and before this modern era, plant sources of Omega-3s (DHA, ALA, EPA) might have been lacking in non-pescotarian diets.

Fish of course are high in Omega-3s. So are plant sources of Omega-3s, like Flaxseed and Chia Seeds and so on. And of course, in recent history, foods such as Flax and Chia and Hemp Seeds and so on have become increasingly mainstream, available, and popular, much more than in previous decades. This might be a factor in why pescotarians fared better in certain metric(s).

Vegan diet usually works pretty well for me but cheese is one of those things that just don't.
Even the higher priced ones taste just bland and fatty. The cheap ones are usually made of coconut oil which you can absolutely taste no matter how much it's claimed you can't.
People who like vegan cheese probably also think pic related is acceptable cheese.
I still have hope though, maybe some traditional cheese makers will get into trying plant based options.

Maybe some might choose to eat a piece of fish once or twice a month or supplement with fish oil capsules. You could try plant-based sources of Omega-3s and then get checked out by a doctor. I wouldn't obsess too much over it.

There are many many studies out there and more being performed every year. Here's a short-cut. Proof is in the pudding. If you want to know the healthiest diet and lifestyle, simply find the people on this earth who live the longest, and figure out why. Some of their children are living less longer, eating more modern fast-food and so on than their long-lived grandparents. Check out those documentaries like Forks Over Knives and so on it seems almost everyone's seen already.

The future is plant-based. They got the burger down as far as I'm concerned. I just hope they speed up and make vegan Rib-Eyes and Filet Mignons and Salmon and Sushi that could fool someone blindfolded. Until then, I maybe might have a cheat day for a special occasion later this year. Or a cheat week, heh. But I don't really miss it, still ten thousand options that are plant-based, creative, and delicious. Dr. Kellogg (Seventh-Day Adventist, of Corn Flakes and world-wide Health & Sanitarium Fame) has said, in regards to alcohol, it's better to have a bender once every couple of months, than to be a moderate drinker. Read an article some time ago, smoking even one cigarette a day is bad for you, and I'd guess worse than binge-smoking two packs once a year. But honestly, they've got vegan chicken and burgers and so on that could fool anyone, and I don't at all feel deprived.

Why would I try to get any information from propaganda? That's like trying to educate yourself on POC from watching "the birth of a nation" or something.

Finally, I can't be a vegan for health. Lets say I try a vegan diet, and my health falls apart like when I was vegetarian, and only gets better when I reincorporate meat back into my diet? And then lets say I actually find the more meat I eat, the better I feel? Now what?

Tons of vegans have been saying I literally cannot be vegan for health, it has to be for the animals. But which animals? The domestic animals that will go extinct because they would allegedly be rendered obsolete? Or the wild animals who would also go extinct because most human crops require tons of water, artificial fertilizer (since there would be no manure), and pesticides? Wouldn't I just be funding the multi billion dollar crop protection industry?

Nah senpai there is more money in just making high quality cheese. Nuts are expensive and time consuming to produce, process, and considering the most popular vegan cheeses are made with coconuts and cashews, import. I am growing a bunch of hazelnuts, with a plan to have about 125 bushes total. But I wouldn't turn them into cheese, what a waste! I'd turn them into maybe Nutella or some other shit. Maybe just straight up sell the nuts.

That egg and cigarette smoking statement I'm not aware of, I doubt very few doctors and experts have 100% of everything perfect. But the overall findings of The China Study and even the particular individual American cases they highlighted in that film, shows what can be possible.

It sounds like for me, that since you have pasture and will be able to raise your own healthy animals, with your own organic garden as well, that that would be a wonderful road for you to take.

It must be stressed how important it is to have a intelligently and properly balanced vegan or vegetarian diet. Many make the mistake that because they put off meat, that they can take many liberties, almost as revenge, or compensation, that they are entitled to eat whenever they want, whenever they want, and more and more for example.

I can't go over all the dietetic errors here, but I would recommend reading, browsing, perusing the book, "The New Dietetics" by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg. All of his books are now free domain and available online. It's a masterpiece, and covers many common dietetic errors and issues on health, and is a fascinating, fast, easy, and engrossing read. That brilliant man is one of the reasons why Seventh-Day Adventists are one of the longest lived and healthiest groups of people on this earth. He was kind of in a way, like the Tesla of Medicine. Invented a lot of things, wrote a lot of books.

I'll save you a few clicks. You can't download the entire PDF here, but the book is free domain so you can download it on a different website, it's easier to read through an offline PDF than use hathitrust for me, kind of sluggish. Do you think "the dairy industry" is a single person or something? No two dairies are going to be the same. It's actually kind of silly when you look into it. This one guy did a goat dairy and some of his customers were vegans because they realized it isn't required by law to mistreat animals to get excess milk from them. He preferred the kid fed off the mother, and only bottle fed when the mother wouldn't accept her baby. He said the mother raised kids were bigger anyways.

Maybe you should like do unbiased research, and not just look at the worst farms ever for information. Thats like assuming all dogs come from puppy mills, or all marriages are abusive, just because some are.

Carbolic acid is also known as Phenol. From Wikipedia on some of it's medical uses:

Medical
Phenol was once widely used as an antiseptic, its use pioneered by Joseph Lister (see History section).

From the early 1900s to the 1970s it was used in the production of carbolic soap. Concentrated phenol liquids are commonly used for permanent treatment of ingrown toe and finger nails, a procedure known as a chemical matrixectomy. The procedure was first described by Otto Boll in 1945. Since that time it has become the chemical of choice for chemical matrixectomies performed by podiatrists.

Phenol spray, usually at 1.4% phenol as an active ingredient, is used medically to help sore throat.[31] It is the active ingredient in some oral analgesics such as Chloraseptic spray, TCP and Carmex, commonly used to temporarily treat pharyngitis.[32]

The same practice is followed by several modern nations dwelling in tropical climates; and it can scarcely be doubted that it is a very salutary one, and has contributed very materially to the maintenance of that proverbial national health for which the Jews are celebrated. Eminent physicians have expressed the opinion that the practice would be a salutary one for all men. The maintenance of scrupulous cleanliness, by daily cleansing, is at least an imperative duty.

I would really need a source. I'd really like to read that. Dr. Kellogg fostered 42 children, legally adopting at least 7 of them, many of them African-American children. He was not a racist, and spoke well of all races from around the world in his beautifully illustrated book "Sunbeams of Health and Temperance", taking a trip around the world, praising highly of the Japanese, Africans, Middle-Easterners, Polynesians, Maori, Native Americans, Indigenous Peoples, etc. and more.

I'm a big fan of proper quoting and sourcing. Here's a list of his books online: http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/book/lookupname?key=Kellogg%2C%20John%20Harvey%2C%201852%2D1943

And the book I referenced. This one you can download the PDF completely:

Extremely ahead of it's time, ahead of the medical profession even today. Make for a great coffee-table book. Since it's free domain anyone can print it and you can buy copies on Amazon, look for a hardcover.

You can read it online on Hathitrust or download the entire thing as a PDF, which I recommend doing, quicker and easier to flip pages:

He was actually greatly beloved and was the most famous doctor in America. Treated several U.S. presidents and even Abraham Lincoln's dear wife.

"Dr. Kellogg also lectured, wrote books and edited a magazine, becoming a celebrity doctor whose admirers and patients included several U.S. presidents, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Amelia Earhart, Sojourner Truth and many others. Also among his patients was Ida Tarbell, the foremost investigative reporter of her day and a woman unlikely to let a charlatan go unexposed, let alone be personally treated by one."

I mean without him, we wouldn't have cereal and milk, granola, peanut butter, many things that helped to shape American health and life.

The tide did change, fast food and the epidemic of obesity and health problems we now face seem insurmountable. Doctors just prescribing more and more pharmaceutical drugs, surgeries, and pills, ignoring the fundamentals of health and nutrition. It's as if there was a period of light that shone through, then an age of darkness when the food & pharmaceutical companies won (Dr. Kellogg never wanted any sugar in his cereals), only for the light to shine again once more. Seasons.

And like the seasons, the tide is turning back again. Plant-based is the future, and it was the past. And it's now.

Ensure was a better invention for the sick and infirm than cereal or peanut butter.

Kellogg was a quack. It's okay, many doctors are, and the public gets fooled by them. The world is worse off. Plant based will not be the future, if anything, people will learn that just having a closer connection to their food in general is the true key to good health, not industrializing things further.

The world will never go plant based. It simply cannot.

Hello anons. I have been gathering a list of vegetable essentials for a quality life.
I'm a NEET who ate a lot of tendies.
Right now I'm at age 25, and realizing I gotta change my eating habits before it's too late.
Anyone here have good sources on fundamentals of making dishes?
Not necessarily looking for recipes, but rather just get a good foundation of what are good combinations and what aren't.
My ultimate goal is blood vessel expansion. I want my arteries and veins to pop out to the point people will think I'm on gear(I'm not). Leafy greens are great nitric oxide boosters.

Personally i don't care about animals getting killed. What does get on my nerves is that most don't know how to kill them properly. When an animal is dying they release certain hormones on their body, making the meat taste shittier. It has to be an instant kill. It actually makes want to go hunt instead of buying the meat from the supermarket

Losing fat and lifting weights is a great way to look vascular. When I was strict keto with tons of animal products (mostly meat and eggs with some butter and a bit of cream, with lots of fibrous non starch veggies) I was at peak vascularity.

The trick is to track your calories. Animal fats and proteins promote satiety.

Hunting is fucking stupid unless you are a really good shot. If you miss and that animal gets away, it will suffer more than what an animal in a shithole slaughterhouse does.
If you want properly raised and slaughtered meat contact a local farmer in your state and see if he can do at home slaughter, then buy a whole animal. On a low carb, high animal diet with lots of eggs and some high fat dairy like butter and cream, a whole cow should easily feed you for 2-3 years. Make sure if he cant slaughter the cow at home the cow is sent to a NON USDA processing facility. I cannot stress this enough. There are only 800 usda inspected facilities in the country, they are overcrowded, and the animals have to travel incredibly far. More travel=more stress for the animal. Again, ideally you'd want an at home slaughter, and the carcass getting shipped off for processing. A 700 dollar chest freezer should easily hold an entire cow. You could probably find a used one for cheaper.

Good luck neet.

The animal will suffer more pain in death, perhaps. But at least the animal got to actually live, breathe fresh air, sleep under the stars and do all the things critters need to do. Factory farms are just a miserable and horrific extension of the spic-nig cycle. They need to be done away with entirely. Hunting can at least be b&r.

Ever wonder why you can't buy cashews in the shell? it's because they are actually in the same family as poison ivy, and the inside of the shells contain caustic oils that cause burns on the skin. Cashews mainly grow in India, where workers get paid very little to process the nut. Gloves can be provided but it slows down their work, and they get paid by weight, not amount of time they work. Their fingers will turn black and rot.

Also, raw cashews is bullshit, they all need to get heated in order to get rid of the caustic oil residue.

Also, this is common for lots of other crops. Many plants and agricultural chemicals have caustic properties to them that will cause severe physical and mental issues to workers.
