I am from the midwest but moved to the east coast. I hate to say it but the region really does have no good food aside from cities like Chicago. On the coast you have fresh seafood, good italian, delis, korean...when I travel to places like Ohio or central PA there is literally nothing good. You only have fast food restaurants the same half dozen in every single city, (mcdonalds, burger king, arbys, subway, etc), some mediocre greasy spoon diner, and the local Great Wall generic chinese place. It's a fucking wasteland if you don't want to eat in the same shitty chains you can find across the entire country

I do love german food which is rarer on the east coast, and the chicago food like italian beef, but these are the only redeeming features of the midwest
