So it’s just the leftover bits of beef made into mince?

>> No.15935574

There's probably a product information number on the box you can call for details. These companies are usually pretty open about that kind of stuff, since certain religious dietary restrictions prevent eating certain cuts of meat.

Don't know why you're asking here, though.

>> No.15936614

Yeah it's just minced beef pressed into a loaf and sliced thin. It's delicious though. Makes great cheesesteaks.

Hey guy, treat yourself, and go splurge on some chip sliced ribeye and make a proper cheese steak, then adjust your opinions accordingly.

Steak-emms are cheap. That's about all it has going for it

God these used to be so goooood in the 90s. It had it's own special flavor like McDonalds or KFC. It also used to be pretty cheap. Now it's like $8 per box and the meat is flavorless. What the hell happened? Did they try to make it healthy or did they just remove the flavor packets that they used to add to the meat to save money?

I live "in a part of the country that has very good cheese steak selection" and around here, most people I know have always found these to be shit(biased), but a lot of stuff like this has gone down hill over the years.

Slim jims for example were never good, but I took a single bite of one a couple years ago, and holy shit, they basically just taste like greasy ground up cardboard pressed into a stick. Meat products can only be so cost effective

I like steakumm - yeah it's minced meat rolled out into a wafer. It goes from raw to overcooked in your skillet in maybe 4 seconds. You have to cook a whole box to make a decent sandwich though. Yeah, it's good as much as I would like to bitch about it.

someone said a box of steak ums is like 8 bucks above for a box that according to the pic weights 9 oz. I don't know if that's true, but great ground beef is cheaper than about 15 bucks a pound. and chipped ribeye would butt fuck steak-umm meat, probably at a cheaper price point as well, at least around here.

Steak-ums were a decent and cheap treat for dinner 25+ years ago. Now it's a 15oz box on "sale" for $5 or more. Even the steak-eze frozen pucks you can get from Sam's are vastly superior to steak ums.
